Has anyone else here just refused to completely grow up as I have? I've got an ever-growing collection of toys stretching back to the 80's all the way through some of the latest and shiniest. Some of it's left over from childhood, while other pieces are things that I'd always wanted, sort of like long awaited promises to myself. And a lot of it is just a fascination with watching the playthings of youth change and evolve over the years. What of the rest of you, eh? How many others here share an interest with the diversions of childhood?

I do! I love collecting action figures. My current collection holds over 30 figures from the DC universe 6 inch scale, along with several other characters including the predator and the terminator. And for me, G.I. Joe has always held a special place in my heart, and so my Joe collection is massive and still expanding. I am proud to say that I've still got all of my original G.I. Joes from way back when, and a bunch of newer stuff I've picked up only recently. And in fact I got bored the other day and set up a nice little battle between them and my transformers. Can G.I. Joe stop megatron and the decepticons?? Only time will tell!.....and knowing is half the battle!

Yeah I do. Mainly cuddly toys. I've got a huge Garfield-my cousin won it at a fair and gave it to me....I refuse to get rid of it. Plus I've got quite a few TY Beanie Babies-dog and elephant. A small Pluto dog when I went to Disneyland Paris, a cute cuddly teddy soldier when I went to London. A bigish leprechaun and a cuddly fish that I won at the fair. Basically if I visit somewhere I like to get a cuddly toy or a fancy/random pen. I collect random pens-two of my favourites are piglet and tigger pens.hehe.
Growing old is mandatory....growing up is optional so I choose not to.

Yeah i collect toys still i got a bunch of toys i have collected some friend of mine think thats weird that i still collect toys but least my one friend likes to collect toys too.

I used to collect toys until last year. With the recent inflation put on toy prices, I can no longer justify buying them like I used to. Plus, I have no room anyway.

hmm,I got rid of all my toys from when I was a child because I thought toys were just for kids. Then,I found out that wasn't true and I started putting stuffed animals on my bed to sleep with.I have a Teddy Bear from The Hardrock Casino,I have a Build-a-Bear from off a float named Snowflake,he is my lucky bear, and I have a Bunny I caught off another float named Jillie Bean Escabar the 2nd

I still do on occasion. It has been a little while since I've had the impetus to really go out and buy one, but I do have my little collection. While growing up, I've never truly grown up. It is my personal philosophy that when you decide that play is over that is when your life just goes into the crapper. All things in life have their place and the playful mind is one of them.Considering that one of my former jobs was in an archive dedicated to toys the mindset was quite apropos.

hmm,I've never thought of it that way,Feather

I find it very refreshing. You are only truly old when you actually think you are. All perception is filtered through your mind. Yes I am only 37 as I say this, but I have always listened to my elders. The happiest are those who feel the same way. It doesn't mean acting unwisely, just being playful when it is appropriate or even better when you can get away with it. 😉

Give it some thought. 😎

I'm still a child of the late 80s and 90s, I still go on nostalgia trips every now and then, especially with toys.

I still collect action figures today of characters I like, though usually to pose them or admire the craftsmanship.

I'm a pack rat, and so that should be (almost) enough said. :stickout

I'm 21 and I still sleep with a teddy bear EVERY night... and I likely will until I'm able to replace my (partially) stuffed teddy bear with a real one instead. 😉

As well, I know I'm a dork, and I don't really care. As long as I have hordes of my newest 'obsession', I can survive. :lol

Now ya got me started blathering about Action Figures....

I have an awesome collection of Japanese robot-toys from the late 70s mostly (pre-Transformers) mostly:

- Micronauts (called Microman in Japan, this line coined the phrase "Parts Interchangeable" and directly evolved into Transformers- but by then I was trying to be a grownup)
- Shogun Warriors (Die-cast Chogokin or Jumbo Machinders) these fierce looking robots range from 3" to nearly 22" tall. Yes, I have 2 of the big ones which are nearly TWO FEET TALL!!!

Plus they started making NEW Microman and Chogokins at least 10 years ago, and most of these are awesome too.

My "thing" lately is Dr Who action figures; the new ones look EXACTLY like the show! I know at least one other grown man and two women my age who collect Dr Who stuff (but only I have the Tardis Control Room!)...

I don't collect toys, but I did recently wander into this fantastic room in the T.T. Wentworth Museum (here in beautiful Pensacola) which was devoted to a local woman's collection of wind-ups. A truly decades-spanning selection of toys lovingly displayed.

I do wanna pipe-in on the tangential conversation that Featherdaemon and QueenBeeBeeMarie were having about the importance of play right on through one's life. I so agree with this. At the very least, I try to fit least one unstructured day into every week. It's a luxury I afford myself in order to stay sane, or perhaps to at least better mask my insanity. All I know is, it usually does me a world of good. Having been through periods in my life where there was no free time for anything, seemingly ever, this sort of dream-away day is even more appreciated.

Came to the realization in recent years that I don't really PLAY anymore, and so I've incorporated play into my life again. Even found games that appeal to me....

(Heh heh I chase helpless Co-eds through my underground boiler room!....Oh wait, I think that was in a movie)

I've read that most adults get most of their unstructured "play" through sex (stalking sexy co-eds in boiler rooms! Oops, sorry sorry...) but we need a certain amount of "play-time" somehow. Maybe that's why everyone's addicted to "Farm-Ville"......

Do I keep toys? HELLS YES I DO! I still have my automatic transforming Optimis Prime. ^_~

Spawn figures when i can find them, damn you gamestop for stop carrying toys!😡

Yes! A few years ago I got a gigantic pvc "Shin Getter" robot at Gamestop of all places! But then they stopped carrying action figures...

Also mad at Tower Records for closing, they used to carry weird action figures too. But the one store I miss most of all is Suncoast Video..... Suncoast used to have everything; Spawn, LOTR, Sideshow figures- I think they had movies somewhere too...

There's always ebay, but it's not the same. I wanna walk into a physical room with cool stuff all over the place!

Well, yeah. I collect action figures and the like. 🙂

I see some familiar faces on your shelf....Dr Who #4,5,6,9,and 10 plus a Dalek. Alas, I don't have Dr#5 myself....

Yes, I've actually come across Dr Who figures on this side of the Atlantic
