Has that crap been cleared up yet? Every PC in the house got completely overrun with a little nasty bastard of a virus that started screwing things up right after viewing content from this websight, so before I start viewing clips...am I assured this thing is taken care of?

Thank you

Me either....

But judging by the fact that this was his first post and he just joined this month, I suspect that it's just someone who is trying to stir up something.

Actually, a couple weeks ago, when viewing certain threads, a number of Web pages automatically opened up. The problem was fixed though. Look for it in the Technical Assistance forum.

We had an issue not too long ago, but it was cleared up. I'd run a scan-check on your computer to make sure. If it's coming from certain pages on the forum, then you need to let a Moderator know so they can clean it up.

Thank you very much for those replies, seriously. And avethibaltus...bite me, it's a different account because the infection completely corrupted my hd, ****

My two cents

On Sunday, I was in the new chat room for a few minutes when I got a notice that something was about to install, and to click to download. When I tried to cancel, I recieved a Spyware program. Don't know if it had anything to do with the chat room, but that was my first time in that room. I have since cleaned my computer of the Spyware and installed the necessary software to prevent it.

Thought I would throw this out in case any one else had this happen.

Rather, by just opening the files in the video clips section, I received a really nasty one. This happened three...yes THREE times and had to kill my hd right from the boot sector!! Thanks for helping out btw.

Oh, and avethibaltus? You can pull your head out of the sand now. Seems like I am not the only one... *******

I downloaded and checked all the clips that were posted on the day of your 1st message above, and saw nothing wrong in any of them.

For a time there was a post in video clips that had an iframe installed in it's signature that caused a redirect to a mallware site that caused some infections, once we IDed the account it was removed. But I have had now reports of any problems with downloadable content being virus carriers.

I have had no reports of any issues with downloaded materials being virus carriers from any other users. So this could be a new issue.

Could you tell me which clips caused the issues for your computer? If someone is uploading infected clips, your reports of which they are could be the only way they might be found.

Since I updated my corporate Symantec the new room would cause a spyware alert due to the flash ( I believe it is flash ) that causes the Advertisment to run at the bottom. This is a false positive and I have checked and re-checked using 3 different programs ( Symantec Endpoint, TrendMicro and AVG. ) All you have to do is to make that particualr POP an allowance for your software. As for the Please downlaod problem you experienced, this I did not have Could you tell me in detail what the program was that was trying to install

A little knowledge about protecting your pc, and network is in order too. The whole an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure applies here. You are picking up trojans destroying your boot sector and infecting your whole network, and you are telling others to protect you from a TB worth of material that is coming in daily. They are on top of it, as they should be. Try to learn a little bit more about these things and how they work, to be able to arm yourself with some front line defenses to be able to avoid things like this. Just offering some helpful advice. 🙂

I received the Malware software and ran a check and my computer is fine now. I spoke with tklshdiva and she said she had something similar happen as well. I did not initiate a download, which was the odd thing about all this. I think it was asking me to buy spyware 2009 software. I had it written down but I threw it away once I deleted the executable.
