TT down and problems problems problems!!

Hey all,
Like everyone else I've asked TT was down for me this morning. Browser just acted like the site didnt even exsist.
I was able to get on, obviously, using the IP address like we did a while ago when the domain was being resolved (Thanks Drew for giving it to me again!!).
Okay...so why does typing in www.tickletheater.com not work for me??
I have asked 4 other people if they were having problems. Two were but arent now and 2 still cant access the regular way. So I know it's not just me.
Any clues? Can one of the smarter folks out there help me out? Is there anything I can do to resolve this? Will it fix itself?

I had the problem when entering the site this afternoon so in the morning for you. What a mess, it said page non available an so on....By the way i never had that IP problems of you are talking about. And to say that i do not type the site adress, i have it in the favorites it's quicker access for me.
Or maybe those are the cookies or the internet settings ( security and so on ). What browser do u have ? Maybe the settings again.
Is that for that reason that there were so little people today ????????

I have the same problem in Netscape, IE, AND Opera. For now using the IP address will work but I'd like it to function normally! Like I said, other people are still having problems. so its not just me. It seems to have cleared up for some but not for others.

It has been suggested to me that I tell TT about it because it may be a problem with the site not being available on all ISPs. Or something. I dont know. :grind_tee

Hmmmm......if it's not an issue with the Theater itself, which it likely is, then I almost say it is a DNS problem. I had it a while back when I was using DSL. I couldn't access any site period, yet I could still do, say automatic updates within a normal windows program (Not a browser.). From what I know of DNS, it is related to how your computer converts the www.tickletheater.com into the IP and numerical address of the hosting server. Confused? I sure was. I don't know how to do it, but you may need to purge and reset your DNS addy stuff.


Of course, the problem has probably been sorted out by now anyway. 😛

Nope, HDS, problem still there! Annoying!
How do I reset the DNS whatevers? Like I said other people are still having trouble so Im pretty sure its not me or a problem in my computer. Any help I could get would be apreciated!

I have noticed that no one has been on today, relatively speaking, so I think it is a very widespread issue.

Well like I said I've only spoken with a few people and half of them still cant get on. May be an ISP issue (or a group of ISPs) but I really dont know much about these things. baahh

The domain registrar seems to have pulled the domain from their database. I can't even login to my account to use their support system, so I have to rely on using a sales e-mail address so who knows if they'll respond. I'll try to call them when they open tomorrow.

Hooray! Problem at least found. Sort of. This must be a wide spread problem. Only 7 new posts over night. Andymac couldnt get in either.
I posted to the TMF with the IP addy so that hopefully a couple people who can't access will see that its a probelm being worked on. *sigh*
Just now I came on and there were 3 members and 0 guests.

Yes, it is widespread -- I contacted AOL, BT, and other ISP users who could not reach the forum, although one AOL user on the US east coast was able to get in the regular way.

Several other seemingly unrelated sites have also gone down, such as Asian foot site www.chinaheel.com and political site www.guntruths.com 🙁 Those sites have been down for over a week with similar DNS error messages and no response to ping or traceroute.

I have searched online news services for information about any DoS attacks, widespread outages, or major virus outbreaks, but I can't find anything.

😎 yeah, already yesterday (2003.12.4) I lost every five minutes
the connection and today there's no access at all when using
the "normal" address.
but thanx, nessonite for postin' the IP at the TMF

Yep, both of those sites you listed were down for me as well. Thanks for looking around for more info. I'm sure our technical guru (TT) will have it all sorted out or at least be able to tell us what the deal is.
Ohhh what a mess! We'll have practically no people here until it's fixed!

I was just here using the backup domain name of www.tickletheater.net and the entire connexion suddenly crashed, with no reponse to traceroutes. I am not sure if it is me (three major crashes in 10 hours yesterday) or if there is still something wrong with the site 🙁

Why do computers suck so much, lol?

The www.tickletheater.net addy works as of 12:16 AM. But, I do agree, why? The real answer: computers are made to do so many things today that they cannot excel in any one catagory so they inevitably fail. Ah, the price of advancement.....

Hi, HDS; as of now the .net address is working again for me (08.52 GMT), so I guess it was just a network hiccup.

I also hope that I have fixed the problem on my machine, which I think had something to do with the USB modem.

Everyone, the .com address, the old one, works as of 12:02 Saturday. It looks as thought the issue has passed.
