Anyone familiar with the program Turbo File Split?
It beats a lot of programs I have seen. Mainly, because if you have it, you can creae splits that you can distribute all over and no one needs to intall any software to use the splits. They just save all the split files, double click the first one, and the original file will reassemble itself.
I can make splits with TFS and no one needs to have TFS on their pc to use my splits. The splits are self assembling. One of the complaints about Hacha and other programs is that people either don't want to figure out those programs, or they don't want to install them. TFS solves that problem for me.

Soooo, where we can find that? any link? sounds interesting!

I suppose you could just google for it, or whatever search engine you like to use. I'm sure any main sites that offer free software downloads will have it. The main question to be answered is whether the free version can do splits suitable for this forum. It does have limits. I used it to split some very large files and burn them to CD, and it worked great. It also compressed the files as well.

winrar does that, you can create a .exe that will join all the files that you downloaded... seen it use before in here but not often enough

Winrar requires installation, does Turbo File Split requires installation?.

7-Zip !

I prefer installing one zip tool that you can use for extracting lots of different filetypes (zip, 001, rar,...) and I only like to download data files from the internet, no .exe's that can contain virusses or can do other things you would not expect it to do.
I don't like these hacha like programs that create things you only can recompile with hacha itself, while there are standard alternatives like multipart zip or rar.

Creating (self-extracting) files with winrar is in my opinion the easiest way to split and to join big files.

Btw, I found this great tool : 7-zip (query google for '7z' and you'll get their site).
This is completely free and it is a replacement for winzip, winrar, hjsplit,...
Linux users can alro run 7-zip
Just right click on an archive and choose 'Extract here'.

I tested the latest beta, and found out:

* you can split files in .001, .002,... just like hjsplit does.
You can join files like that, that are splitted with hjsplit or 7-zip
* You can extract rar files created with winrar, even multipart splits
* you can create a self-extracting .exe file (but not in multiple parts)

What I couldn't do with it (maybe you can or it will support this in the future):
* creating a multipart self-extracting archive (like winrar can)

By the way, winrar is also more or less free. Its trial doesn't seem to expire

Well, i prefer hacha or hjsplit because them don't require installation, so i can use them in any pc only double-clicking over them. I'd use any splitter tool that don't need install.

Hacha doesn't require installation, but you do have to download the hacha program. Turbo File Split doesn't require any download in order to view split clips. Again, no download required. Unless you are the one wanting to use TFS to create the split clip. Anyone else downloading clips to view, they would just download all the clip files and double click on the first clip file. The files will reassemble themselves in to 1 clip file. I repeat, no downoad of Turbo File Split is needed to watch clips created with turbo file split. That's the beauty of it.

Why don't you post some split files with Turbo and let us see how it works. It would be quite nice to have a programme that really suits everyone and that we can all agree is user-friendly and does the job. The beuty of a system like winrar, for me, is that yyou do not have to unzip each file before joining, which is quite time-consuming with Hatcha and H-split. So A really efficient system that could be used as a standard is certainly welcome

Well, I would be glad to do that, however, it seems I do no have a copy of it. I have been searching the net for it so I could do some samples. There are plenty of search results for it but the eventually all point to the same address for download, which doesn't work. I suspect it is a very easy tool for the illegal distribution of copyrighted files and programs, and may have disappeared for that reason. If I find it I'll make some samples. It is definitely the perfect program for making split clips for those who complain about Hacha being to time consuming, or complain about having to install something else.

Have you tried this:

wx3 5star (dash) network (dot) com (slash) Windows / Utilities / File- Disk- Management / turbosplit

I'm no expert, but it seemed to download for me. You'll have to write it up properly and close the gaps as I could not post the whole url.

Another question. Why can I not post a url? Everyone else seems to manage OK

Ericmartin, members need at least 10 posts to be able to post clickable links (to reduce spamming). After you have reached 10, it takes a few hours for the system to update your account, but you should be able to post links very soon 🙂

Thank ye kindly, Mistress! I thought I just hadn't quite got it. Was goingg all poor-me about it.
