I think he was not tickling them. He was doing foot massage, pressing the "accupuncture points" on their feet. And the two women kept saying "pain pain pain".

on_storm is right...they arent being tickled at all. Unfortunatley, they keep saying that the "massage" hurts. He is really bending their toes in awkward angles and doing pressure points in their feet.

If you go back a little way, there is a part where they visit some hot springs and drink the water, and one of them also has a go seeing what it feels like as a foot bath. Altogether quite aneducational site.

Great find, Philliph! Thanks for posting. I believe that there is some tickling going on. 'Itai' (painful) is also said by girls in japanese tickle videos- for those of you who have seen that old ticklejapan scene with the girl in the green bathing suit (one of my favorite scenes), she says it over and over again. The two girls here are described as laughing at various points- specifically the last photo of the first woman's sequence and the beginning of the second woman's sequence. It appears, judging from the photos and commentary, that the first woman found it to be quite painful; the second woman says it's painful but appears to be laughing.

I'd be happy to translate text wherever people are questioning it, as the on-line translations don't make much sense. Thanks again for posting this!

I believe that there is some tickling going on. 'Itai' (painful) is also said by girls in japanese tickle videos- sense.

Could 'Itai' be used as a colloqiaul phrase or a slang to mean in a broader sense "torment" or "torture", indicating in that something is diffucult to withstad becuase it, indeed, tickles, - rather than the always-literal meaning that something is hurting?

I don't know if 'itai' has any broader meaning, Oddjob. It's certainly possible, and I like your way of thinking; then the example I gave would certainly make sense 😉 . I have heard differing opinions on whether 'itai' neccessarily had to do with physical pain or could refer to mental pain, as well (or be used figuritively). I think that the example I gave becomes easier to understand by simply pointing out that many girls in American videos, or in life for that matter, say 'ow' when they are being tickled. The tickling may not be painful at all; saying 'ow' is probably just a natural reaction and a way to try to get someone to stop.
