I hope this link will work on here it refers to a situation reviewing porn legistration on the net wither it will come off is anyones guess, this could be like the smoking ban and could spread to the USA.

All sorts of concerns and issues can arise from this see what you think : (if the link works.)

The issue is under debate on another site and i thought it may warrant debate on here.

Blocking porn would only lead to more rapes and murders due to sexual frustration...

That would be incredibly difficult to make fly in the States. Such things have protections under the First Amendment. It's very unpopular to create bans on such things because the taste of Prohibition is still bitter.

We've had our "ban a vice in the middle of an economic downturn" fuck up. There's a lot of weird kooks in the USA these days with their treasonous anti-American Liberty-sapping morality BS, but they're mostly laughed at by normal people as the pompous blowhards that they are.

So when they once more try to do something like this here - as they talk about every year - we'll smile, nod, and then make fun of them behind their backs again.

Empty-headed putzes.

PS This is 2010, nearly 2011. We don't make fun of them behind their backs anymore. We just say it to their face nowadays. People who get "offended" by shit can eat turds.

I echo Jamie's statement, and add this:

if they take away porn, wtf else will we have left? Porn is the only consumer product left that we can export! xD

I agree with The Inner Jamie, more than wholeheartedly.

The First Amendment is the formalization of several fundamental differences between the philosophy of government in America and any other country. In Britain, authority is fundamental and government allows liberties to its people. Brits pay a yearly tax on radio and television receivers? Is that true?

In America, liberty is fundamental and governmental powers are whatever a politician or a group can steal before we boot them back out onto the street.

Because these politicians are full-time and we voters are part-time, this sneak-and-snatch routine accumulates power like kudzu accumulates brickface.

But the framers understood their descendants surprisingly well. The most active, and pro-active, political movements in America are founded in The First, Second and Fourth Amendments.

The Founders also seem to have known what a hairball we'd wrap around abortion. The Constitution is silent on the most embattled of women's rights.

UBU, I'm pretty sure that the only abortion they had back then was by using a knife and yanking that fetus out of there. Probably would have killed the mother too...

But I think I know what you mean.

Hasty, hasty, ...756. You overlooked the boiled onions --

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_abortion

They didn't even come up with pennyroyal oil until 1896. And then, it was more effective than safe. If the mother dies, then of course ...

Oh, my. With all the talk of abortion this past decade, I thought it had been invented in the 21st century. You learn something new every day.

I bless your innocence and strive for my own. And I apologize to Hazelf for hijacking her thread.

Thats accepted and thank you for the apology.

Its the nature of threads to drift off topic as do real life convos, i have done it myself.

The most-recent similar law in the US, the "Child Online Protection Act," was effectively nullified by the US Supreme Court on First Amendment grounds in 2009:

Thanks for the comments and links this was our last change of law a few years back.

In 2004 or 2005 a woman was strangled with a pair of tights (uk speak) pantyhose (usa) and it came out the person responsible had been looking up porn on the internet.

Another woman started a campaign against violence being used in porn on the net, and as a result in about 2007 it came about that a person running or owning a website could not illustrate any violent actions and imply any violent actions in fantasy or actual content, for entertainment.

Recentlyjust before i posted this in fact,i was asking a site manager about a pic i had, and couldn't find the set or clip relating to it, and wanted to trace it, with two girls wrestling and tearing clothes off,and he told me since the law changed in 2007 and the pics ended up with one girl strangling the other (in fantasy of course) he had to delete them all from his server.I think about 4 people have been brought to justice since the law change, in the whole uk.

So this time round we have another campaigner so it remains to be seen if the law will change, i think it will be gradual and may take two years.

But there are things with the knife laws that the labour party put in that the tories have now done a u turn on so its anyones guess and those laws are more serious, this was a soap actress whose brother was knifed and the campaign was wort while to stop knife crime.

The cut backs don't seem to get rid of the pc and red tape but cut into vital services, so would there be the man power and money to monitor the isp's and check if they did comply would it be feasable to impliment the change.

I accept we need some control but i feel we are loosing our choice and freedom, having said that while i like soft porn, some of the hard porn stuff on the net is very bloodthisty and violent and this side of it needs a bit of control, but soft porn may be osscene to some i would not like much more control.

Its up to the individual i mean some people can be influenced by my undies on the washing line,i a mean it could corupt and its only brigette jones type gear.( ther rest stays in doors )

Even the scene from hitchcocks psyco is illegal here if its displayed out of context for entertainment.

I think we need to keep an eye on things and hope websites, isp's lobby and get partioning see if we can get a sensible balance.

I wish the uk was more like the usa in some respects but guess the grass looks greener.
