Unable to use colors??

Are we unable to use colors in posts??
Dont seem to be able to?
Any ideas?

Along the same lines....since I got a new computer with Vista on it I can't seem to be able to use different sized lettering anymore. Any ideas, HDS?

The size option still works for me,i use Windows XP.Can't get colors to work either.Methinks it might be a glitch on the forum?

I can't use them either. We just upgraded to a new version of vbulletin, it might be because of that.

I just experimented. I can get colors, font, smilies, etc. to work but not sizes. It's probably something to do with Vista. This is not really a big deal, I was just wondering. This was happening before Jeff changed servers and HDS did his magic.

hmm, weird. I'm not on vista, and I had color, or at least I think I did, until the upgrade.

I noticed this yesterday after the update. I confess I was exhausted enough that I figured any tinkering I did was going to produce more harm than good. 😀 All of the styling options appear to be a tad bit screwed up. Some still work (everything but color) but of those "Sizes" doesn't quite look right (in Firefox the word "Sizes" is hidden behind the little drop-down arrow). Colors won't even let you choose, although as Myriads has shown if you tell it a color it will still handle it.

This update most likely replaced the backend scripts for post customization. I think the board is trying to use the old ones (wherever they are) and is failing miserably at it. HDS shall investigate.

Thanks HDS.After doing a cache clean everything is back to normal,and my computer is running much faster. 😀

Colors now work, but the size won't automatically work. I have to type [SIZE= (whatever number).......to get it to work so I can use that. At least I'm making progress.

I suspect you need to try the cache clean or hard refresh (CTRL+F5). I'll list the procedure for the major browsers I am aware of.

Mozilla Firefox:
-Go to "Tools"
-Select "Options"
-Click the "Privacy" tab
-Look for "Private Data"
-Click "Clear Now"
-Make sure "Cache", "Cookies" and "Authenticated Sessions" are checked. Check nothing else unless you want to delete your history or saved passwords as well.
-Click "Clear Private Data Now"
-Close your browser and restart your computer.

Internet Explorer 7:
-Go to "Tools"
-Click "Internet Options"
-On the "General" tab, look for "Browsing History"
-Click "Delete" near it
-Next to "Temporary Internet Files" click "Delete files"
-Next to "Cookies" click "Delete cookies"
-Close your browser and restart your computer

Opera 9:
-Go to "Tools"
-Click "Delete private data"
-Click the "Details >>" to expand the box
-In the checklist make sure "Delete entire cache", "Delete all cookies" and "Delete temporary cookies" are selected. Select nothing else unless you want to risk losing your internet history or saved passwords
-Close your browser and restart your computer

Safari 3:
-Go to "Edit"
-Select "Empty Cache"
-Hit "Empty"
-Close your browser and restart your computer

Sorry HDS. I forgot to mention that I had already done that. So if everyone else is doing alright then the problem must be on my end. I can still access these features with a little typing which is good practice for a computer dummy like me.

That is somewhat odd as if I (or anyone else) sees them normally you should as well. If you do feel like fixing this we can work on it. Test in a different web browser, one you've never used to access the TMF before. Opera, Firefox and Safari are the three I suggest testing with (or Internet Explorer if you use one of them). If it works for one of them then the trouble lies with your current browser. Doing a "factory reset" of its settings may be in order.

Is a "factory reset" hard to perform? You have to remember that you are talking to a computer dumbass.

Not usually. There's often a single button (I know Internet Explorer has it) or simple procedure that returns the browser settings to default settings and clears everything. I have to look up where this button is but it won't be beyond you. 🙂 Of course, if the secondary browser works you can always stick with it, since resetting your current browser will erase all bookmarks, history and saved passwords.
