so what you're saying is, if anyone touches the punter, they will be flagged 15 yards. a player trying to block the punt dives in front of the punter, but his body touches the punter's foot, the punter flops, and you are saying the 15 yards is deserved? whatever happened to let them play? now if someone goes barreling into the punter, sure flag em'. but in that game, the guy was on the ground, not even looking at the punter. the punter comes down and flops. is that fair? no. out of curiosity, and since you know so much, did they do the same with facemasking? after all, there is a 5 yard and a 15 yard facemask penalty.
my point is, a referee needs to make better judgment calls. there is holding on practically every play. do they call every single hold? no. look at basketball. that "Hack a Shaq" is a flagrant foul. no one is trying to go after the ball, they are hitting Shaq intentionally. like i said, referees make judgement calls, and that roughing the punter was a bad judgment call. if a referee is going to follow the rulebook to a "T", then the game would last 6 hours. let them play, and in the case of the Buccaneers-Colts game, that's what should have happened with that "call".
