As I watch the end of a local newscast, the station manager gives a editorial comment at the end of the broadcast. I've noticed alot of that going on, with the local news media. Since when does the news media give their own opinion about what's going on. Are the editorial comments product of a groups or one individual? Since the local news media is often partnered with the national news media which is owned by mega corparations. Are we getting unbias news? I believe the news media should report just the (facts). Also during the election years I've noticed local newspapers throwing their weight behind a certain canidates. Is this unbias news reporting? JUST THE FACTS! ANY COMMENTS!

I agree R. Davis I think the news should just be reporting the facts. Sadly this is not the case anymore. In many instances opinions are not even labeled as such and are reported as facts.

Also theres that clown on CNN who says its not enough to get a great story you also have to be a great storyteller. Look I want news, not storys. Cold hard facts that you have actually taken the time to double check. Spend less time telling stories and more time checking your facts and you will have news that is worth listening to.

This is nothing new. During the Vietnam War, the US network news provided a steady diet of anti-war propaganda. Likewise, during Watergate they did their best to hound Richard Nixon out of office. At the time, I lived in viewing range of 2 Canadian TV stations. The Canadians, having no ax to grind, reported Vietnam and Watergate as straight news. The difference was striking.

Nothing new there, unfortunately. As a matter of fact,I can name 3 incidents of blatantly false reporting:

Does anyone remember the pictures of the little Vietnamese child burned with napalm, ostensibly by Us planes? That was proven to be a known lie,as it was caused by a North Vietnamese practice run against a village they thought was deserted.

An article was written about the supposed high power of assault-type rifles. The reporter tried to blow up a watermelon with one and film it,but several attempts failed. He then got a 30.06 hunting rifle, blew the watermelon up,and claimed that the assault -type rifle did the damage. When confronted with his method, the reply was "I had to lend credibility to the story".In plain language,he lied and made an excuse for it.

Does anyone else remember the GM pickup truck crash test that was filmed and aired? An incendiary device (a bomb) was placed under the truck to make sure it caught fire, but this was detected by GM officials and was exposed.

Although I have never read it,there is a book available exposing over 100 known lies that the US media has reported as fact. The problem is that it is now several years old and outdated.

Chip in?

Hey, that's why some people buy newspapers and TV stations....it gives them a mainstream forum to promote their agendas. been going on a looooong time. Take everything with a grain of salt, and do your own research and thinking. Meanwhile, we can all chip in and have our own TV station, "All Tickling, All The Time",....

😕 IS there such a thing as unbiased news??? I've never seen it. Everything seems to be colored by opinion. Even the choice of what to/not to report is colored by outside influence.

One example of this...

I used to listen to my scanner at night while working an overnight case. I liked to have a sense of what was going on out there while I was working. There were many times during the election season when I'd hear about something going on that you would think would make news. But, nothing was ever said about them when it was election season. The incumbants would obviously be touting their record on decreased crime in their area. We wouldn't want that disproven now. Would we? There were a few things that should actually have been headlines that ended up in a tiny one paragraph mention buried deep inside the paper.

Do I trust the media? Not as far as I can throw them!!!

Faux News unbiased? In which universe?

Why the same one that Rush Limbough actually has a soul and ISNT a complete waste of bum wipe of course. 🙄

which universe?

well obviously not the paranoid drooling one you 2 live in.
fox is unbiased, whether you want to admit it or not, so we'll just call it unbiased.
rush is an egotist, and at times a blow hard. but listen for a while, and the truth is there, you just have to be open minded enought to hear it.

oh please be serious. fox news is so right wing its not funny. As for good ol Rush well, he belongs in an insane asylum because the sh*t that comes out of his mouth is pure lunacy. 🙄

It is impossible to have un-biased news. The people who write the stories are human beings with their own viewpoints and biases and ideas they want to get across. Then in radio and television, you have another human being who has their own viewpoints and biases and ideas they want to get across. It's not always done on purpose, but it's human nature.

BTW: That ad that Fox News has saying they're un-biased is a freaking joke!

good point there, and i agree about human nature.
but, i believe what a few of you are mistaking for bias on fox, is just a lack of the usual libral slant.

Media, whatever it's kind is a damn circus. News programs and newspapers are all owned by the same people at the top. (owned by companies who are owned by further subsiduraies, who are owned by a big company, which is owned by someone else, right up the chain.)

Why anyone even expects the programs to be anything other than loaded is beyone me.

I've been wanting to post this for a couple of days now but I'm getting forgetful in my old age.

Fox news was the first network to call Bush's election victory, when all the others were still undecided and reluctant to make such a huge judgement too early on. The guy in charge of the election coverage for Fox was Mr. Ellis (his first name has slipped my mind, I'm sorry. It's either Lester or John). Once Fox made the call, all the other networks followed because they were afraid of being left out.

Who is this magical Mr Ellis, I hear you all call out. Simple answer, my children of the night.

He's the first cousin of George 'Fish Called' Wanda Bush. Unbiased coverage, no?
