When I woke this morning...I had no idea that I would have to drive my mother to the ER with severe pain in her upper abdomen (around the liver/gall bladder area). Slowest Goddamn people on Earth are in the ER...the irony in that is shocking. Good thing my stepfather showed up so I could leave without exploding with anger.

No telling what has happened, but it really does take the breath out of your lungs to do this.

The day my Dad died, I felt like the ambulance workers were going as slow as humanly possible. Every time I've been at the ER, even for something relatively small, it's taken 2 or 3 hours each time.

Damn man, sorry about that. Hope your mother is better.

2 or 3 hours?? Apparently you haven't been to any ER in Ohio!

If we have to go to ER, bring a lunch and lots of reading material 'cause you're gonna' be there for a very long time.......

Jhop, I hope your mother's getting better; it sucks to see your parent like that.

jhop, I'm very sorry about your mom. I hope she feels better soon.

As I'm sure wont surprise you, I've had a lot of experiences with ER's, when my mom was ill. A year ago May comes to mind. I had to take her to the hospital in NJ from Lancaster, a three hour drive, arriving around midnight, and then they kept us in the ER all night, without sleep, until early or mid morning the next day.

ER's are awful, for both patient, and family. They really should speed up their practices, as its emotionally draining enough to have to take a sick person there.

Sounds like a gallbladder attack. It's painful as hell! Experienced that almost 2 years ago. Worst pain I have ever felt, so I understand your frustration!
Hope things are better now!

Hope your mom is feeling better. I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you all for the kind words. She is still in the hospital and they are doing pre surgery things such as getting an infection down and not allowing her to eat. Looks like the gallbladder has to go, so hopefully things will go alright and she'll come home sometime this weekend.

Any updates, jhop? How is she today?

Well, it turns out her Gallbladder isn't the main problem. The doctors are running more tests to see what it is...she hasn't eatten anything since Monday. When they tried to let her eat some jello or clear liquid...the pain returned in a big way.

I have no idea what is going on.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, jhop. I hope they can figure out what her medical issue is, and help her feel better very soon.

Take care of yourself.

Mitch
