Is there a way to just download the file for installing the a newer version of Yahoo? Version 7.0 is suppose to expire on August 15th. However I cant find system requirements for the newest version (Version 9) and I cant find an archive to download Version 8 which is more likely to run on my computer. 🙁

My system on this craptop is Windows XP with SP1. 256 Mb of memoy. Please dont tell me to upgrade to SP2 as this laptop is on its last legs and I dont think the upgrade would work well. Thanks for your time. 🙂

You can download the older version (8) through Oldversion.com if you like. Note that it may not work with the Yahoo! network if they choose to disallow such.

I see nothing beyond "Windows XP" as a requirement for version 9. SP1 might well be enough for you if you did want to use version 9.

You could also do as I do: use the Web Messenger for Yahoo. It lacks some bells and whistles but works well and requires no installation.

Yea I just noticed that as well. Thanks I think might go with Version 9. Do you know if there is a way to download the messenger install file and save to disk so you can install later? Seems they try to force you to do it all at once.

Thanks for your time HDS. :man: :yourock:

OK I downloaded a slightly older version of Yahoo Msg still Version 9 though. If I install this will it install over my version 7? Will it remeber all my contacts? Thanks for your time everyone. 😀

Your contacts should all be stored remotely by Yahoo!. Even if you uninstall the old version and then install the new you should keep everything, with the possible exception of some settings. (such as whether to archive all conversations)

Thanks for all the help HDS. :yourock: That oldversion website you showed me is great. I always like to download and install offline if I can. Things usually go smoother. Thanks again. 🙂
