vid clips

Hi all,

I am currently making vid clips of some of the stuff I have on tape (and also a tape that Daryl has sent me that is waiting for me to pick up at the post office so I'll do that as well, thanks Daryl!!!). I have a few questions:
1) Would people generally prefer a larger size file with better quality or a smaller file but less quality???
2) Does anyone have any hints for the best quality/size ratio whem making mpegs???
Any other hints and suggestions would be most welcome!!

Tough one...the broadband users with the big HDs want both, but I hate to see our dialup buddies suffering.....

It depends

I agree with the fact that dialup users would prefer smaller size clips so that they do not spend all their time waiting. However, I have always liked bigger clips with better quality. I just let the connection up over night and then check it the next morning.

If it were possible, it would be nice to have an extra short clip or images to show what the clip is about. Then you can decide whether you want to spend the time downloading.

Yes, not everyone can keep up, but the world is marching on. What better motivation to upgrade to a decent computer system?? 🙂

hi again

I'm trying to get the best size/quality ratio at the moment and struggling with the sound quality but I have download some good encoders so hopefully they will help. I got Daryl's video in the mail (thanks Daryl, I'll send you an email) and it's pretty awesome!! My main conern is where I'm gonna be able to put this many clips up??

Thnaks to all thos who gave their opinion, it looks like bigger is better, I'm a dialup user by the way and I don't mind having bigger but better quality clips either.

Where to post clips

Only two real suggestions come to mind:

1) Create a yahoo group and post what you can, when you can.

2) Put it up on Aimster - let all who want, take.

I don't know of any other storage medium that allows access for the number of people that will want your stuff.
