Video Game Movies

seems hollywood is getting it's paws on every video game that it can find, from the peter jackson doing Halo (he's a good director, should do halo some justice) to uwe boll doing blood rayne. this is getting crazy, and hopefully good.

uwe boll is one of the worst directors i know. he butchered house of the dead and alone in the dark, really great games, but the movies he made were horrible. now i just found out he's doing movies of the games: Postal (a personal favorite game of mine, the name explains it all.) Far Cry (another great first person shooter) Int the name of the king: a dragon siege tale (aparrently from the game dragon siege) Fear Effect (another game i'm not sure of) Blood Rayne which is coming out in january, which looks crappy. it's sickening.

in total he's doing 5 movies at once! all of them releasing in 3 years of each other.

not to mention he taking these great celebrities and essentially spoiling their good names with this...

celebrities like: Tara Reid, Christian Slater, Jason Statham (from the transporter) John Rhys-Davies (the dwarf from lord of the rings) Ray Liotta, Matthew Lilliard (plays shaggy in scooby doo movie) Burt Reynolds... the list goes on.

At least halo got a great director. and the owner of Metal Gear Solid is smart enough for a great director to come along.

who knows what's in stock for other video games.

i swear to you this day, if Uwe Boll gets Half-Life or Unreal Tournament, i'll wring his scrawny little neck...

not sure if DOA is in safe hands, a great and awesome games, is in the hands of Corey Yuen. from what all i can tell, he does strickly chinese movies, can't even read what his movies are all about, it's all in chinese.

Judging from the guy's previeus works, WERE SCREWED!!!!!!!!!!!!! And would like to remark the SCREWED part, I really don't see anything but disappiontment in the future...

I haven't seen any of this directors work before. Resident evil (both parts) have been enjoyable, in a dumb action movie kind of way to me so far. I do think they are going a bit overboard on the video games to movie idea though, i hope they don't mess up metal gear, as it as one of my favorite games.

I don't know about that. I know there have been tell of a Metroid movie and a Legend of Zelda one. Has anyone heard anything about those?

Remember the awesomely bad Double Dragon movie with Scott Wolf from Party of Five as Billy Lee?? ROFL....every time he would "fight" they'd show him from behind and use a body double because they just needed a pretty male face.....I love how they were "brothers" yet Jimmy Lee was played by Mark Dascoscas whose part asian....although Alyssa Milano with the short short boy cut bleach blond hair looked damn cute....

Or how about the super-cheesy but also awesomely bad Super Mario Brothers movie? Could they have screwed up the story any more than they did?? I mean Bob Hoskins was perfect as Mario but John Leguizamo isnt even italian! LOL (does bad Seinfeld impression) And what is the deal with King Koopa as a human? I mean Dennis Hopper? And the Goombas as big lizard people? It would have made more sense to just throw shells on them and call them Koopa Troopas.........yeah I know...I"m an old school game geek...😛

But I would LOVE to see Legend Of Zelda as a movie....of course they'd probably end up getting Orlando Bloom or something to play Link...(yech)
