Virus Patch

Thanks Lime. When I first read the discription of this worm, I thought eh, big deal. Then I read the news.
Now getting the patch and installing it is high on my list of shit-to-do.
Damn weenie hackers.

My mom just got that virus infected in her computer at work, but when i went to download it there was nothing for a windows 98

The worm will only affect Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003.

Note: MS has declined to release a patch for Windows NT...

So 95, 98, 98SE and ME are safe from this.

HURAH! :xpulcy:

I have 98! That's because I'm damn-near computer illiterate, and I haven't felt the need to upgrade.
I never dreamed that my technical ignorance would be a good thing. :Hyrdrogen

I hope the rest of you guys are as lucky at avoiding this crap. Those who don't have my sympathy. I wish a pox on those who created it. :disgust:

Apparently on the 15th, all the infected computers are going to send something to Microsoft, overloading and crashing it for a while. I'm not sure if this is true, it's just something my Operating Systems tutor at college told me. Anyway, if half the Internet goes down on the 15th, I guess he was right.

I actually got it and the only reason I knew was because my firewall caught it trying to access the internet.

If you do end up getting it-- the MSBLAST virus-- you need to download the patch first! Then... download or use antiviral software to get it off.

Kim Komando has a link to a free software download that will remove it from your computer. (Fix Blast) And of course the patch will keep it from getting back on.

Take Care,
