Just in case you weren't feeling too old today, this will certainly
change
things. Each year the staff at Beloit College in Wisconsin puts together
a
list to try to give the Faculty a sense of the mindset of this year's
incoming freshmen.

Here is this year's list:

(1) The people who are starting college this fall across the nation were
born in 1982.

(2) They have no meaningful recollection of the Reagan Era and probably
don't know he had been shot.

(3) They were prepubescent when the Persian Gulf War was waged.

(4) There has been only one Pope.

(5) They were 11 when the Soviet Union broke apart and do not remember
the
Cold War.

(6) They are too young to remember the space shuttle blowing up.

(7) Tianamen Square means nothing to them.

(8) Atari predates them, as do vinyl albums.

(9) The expression "You sound like a broken record" means nothing to
them.
They have never owned a record player.

(10) They have likely never played Pac Man and have never heard of Pong.

(11) They may have never heard of an 8 track.

(12) The Compact Disc was introduced when they were 1 year old.

(13) Stamps have always cost about 33 cents.

(14) They have always had an answering machine.

(15) Most have never seen a 13 channel TV set or a black and white TV.

(16) They have always had cable.

(17) There have always been VCRs, but they have no idea what BETA was.

(18) They have always had a remote control.

(19) They don't know what a cloth baby diaper is, or know about the
"Help
me, I've fallen and I can't get up" commercial.

(20) They were born the year that Walkmen were introduced by Sony.

(21) Roller skating has always meant inline.

(22) Jay Leno has always been on the Tonight Show.

(23) They have no idea when or why Jordache jeans were cool.

(24) Popcorn has always been cooked in the microwave.

(25) They have never seen Larry Bird play.

(26) They never took a swim and thought about Jaws.

(27) The Vietnam War is as ancient history to them as W.W.I, W.W.II and
the
Civil War.

(28) They have no idea that Americans were ever held hostage in Iran.

(29) They don't know hard contact lenses.

(30) They don't know Mork was or where he was from.

(31) They never heard: "Where's the beef?", "I'd walk a mile for a
Camel,"
or "de plane, de plane!".

(32) They don't know J.R. or who shot him.

(33) The Titanic was found? They thought we always knew.

(34) Michael Jackson has always been white.

35) Kansas, Chicago, Boston, America, and Alabama are places, not rock
bands.

(36) McDonalds never came in styrofoam containers.

(37) They can't use a typewriter.

(38) There has always been e-mail.

An Old Elvis Song

And Elvis is someone their parents listen to. Come on...sing along everybody...

Are you lonesome tonight?
Does your tummy feel tight?
Did you bring your mylanta and tums?
Does your memory stray,
To that bright sunny day,
When you had all your teeth and your gums?

Is your hairline receding?
Your eyes growing dim?
Hysterectomy for her,
And its prostate for him.
Does your back give you pain?
Do your knees predict rain?
Tell me dear, are you lonesome tonight?

Is your blood pressure up?
Good cholesterol down?
Are you eating your low fat cuisine?
All that oat bran and fruit,
Metamucil to boot.
Helps you run like A well oiled machine.

If it's football or baseball,
He sure knows the score.
Yes, he knows where it's at
But forgets what it's for.
So your gallbladder's gone,
But your gout lingers on,
Tell me dear, are you lonesome tonight?

When you're hungry, he's not,
When you're cold, he is hot,
Then you start that old thermostat war.
When you turn out the light,
He goes left and you go right,
Then you get his great symphonic snore.

He was once so romantic,
So witty and smart;
How did he turn out to be
Such a cranky old fart?
So don't take any bets,
It's as good as it gets,
Tell me dear, are you lonesome tonight?

Ladies and gentlemen, Elvis has left the building.

Old?

We are? Maybe they're just too damn young and should read a bit more!! 😕 Q

Not all of us. Don't feel old just yet

(1) The people who are starting college this fall across the nation were born in 1982. I was born in 1983

(2) They have no meaningful recollection of the Reagan Era and probably don't know he had been shot. I think all of us know that

(3) They were prepubescent when the Persian Gulf War was waged. True, but I remember when the first of our pilots was shot down

(4) There has been only one Pope. Haven't been paying attention there

(5) They were 11 when the Soviet Union broke apart and do not remember the Cold War. I remember the Union, not the war

(6) They are too young to remember the space shuttle blowing up. Aye

(7) Tianamen Square means nothing to them. Tenacious D wrote a song with the Tianamen Square in the lyrics, it means something to us, just not the same as standing infront of tanks

(8) Atari predates them, as do vinyl albums. I listen to my parents' vinyl Beatle albums on a regular basis and I played Atari when I was younger. We were poor

(9) The expression "You sound like a broken record" means nothing to
them. They have never owned a record player. Our records never broke

(10) They have likely never played Pac Man and have never heard of Pong. I started on pong, and we've all played Pac Man, you can only find Mrs. Pac Man these days though. (Pac Man was originally named Puck Man, but Japan figured American kids could change the arcades to spell a naughty word)

(11) They may have never heard of an 8 track. I have, but never listened to one, we have a few

(12) The Compact Disc was introduced when they were 1 year old. Aye

(13) Stamps have always cost about 33 cents. Aye

(14) They have always had an answering machine. Sort of, they've always been around

(15) Most have never seen a 13 channel TV set or a black and white TV. I have one in my room

(16) They have always had cable. Aye

(17) There have always been VCRs, but they have no idea what BETA was. I have a Beta player, I prefer it

(18) They have always had a remote control. Aye

(19) They don't know what a cloth baby diaper is, or know about the
"Help me, I've fallen and I can't get up" commercial. That commercial was around when we were young, I'm sure of it. With the old lady in the bath tub, right?

(20) They were born the year that Walkmen were introduced by Sony. Didn't know that

(21) Roller skating has always meant inline. Hei

(22) Jay Leno has always been on the Tonight Show. Hei

(23) They have no idea when or why Jordache jeans were cool. Hei

(24) Popcorn has always been cooked in the microwave. Hei, though we have a corn popper.

(25) They have never seen Larry Bird play. Are you sure? Magic was always my favorite, but I was pretty sure Bird was playing when I was younger

(26) They never took a swim and thought about Jaws. We've all took a swim and thought about Jaws

(27) The Vietnam War is as ancient history to them as W.W.I, W.W.II and the Civil War. We have more relatives that were there than the other wars, but, hei

(28) They have no idea that Americans were ever held hostage in Iran. We've heard, we just don't remember

(29) They don't know hard contact lenses. I've seen a lady whose glass contact broke while it was on her eye

(30) They don't know Mork was or where he was from. Nannu Nannu

(31) They never heard: "Where's the beef?", "I'd walk a mile for a
Camel," or "de plane, de plane!". We've heard it, but only in past references

(32) They don't know J.R. or who shot him. Heard about it, never in detail

(33) The Titanic was found? They thought we always knew. Hei

(34) Michael Jackson has always been white. I've Just Seen a Face isn't on the Rubber Soul C.D. We don't have record players for our car, I'm going to melt that plastic bastard

35) Kansas, Chicago, Boston, America, and Alabama are places, not rock bands. I've got Kansas and Chicago records, I haven't heard of the others

(36) McDonalds never came in styrofoam containers. Hei

(37) They can't use a typewriter. Some of us can

(38) There has always been e-mail. Just not available for most of us

It was a night,
Ooo what a night it was,
It really was such a night,
The moon was bright,
Ooo how bright it was,
It really was such a night,

The night was alive with stars above,
Oooo when she kissed me,
I had to fall in love,

It was a kiss,
Ooo what a kiss it was,
It really was such a kiss,
Oh how she could kiss,
Ooo what a kiss it was,
It really was such a kiss,

Just the thought of her lips sets me a fire,
I reminisce and then I'm filled with desire,
But I gave my heart to her in sweet surrender,
How well I remember, I'll always remember

Oh what a night,
Ooo what a night it was,
It really was such a night,
Came the dawn and my heart and her love and the night was gone,
But I'll never forget th-the kiss, th-the kiss in the moonlight,
Ooooo such a kiss, such a night

It was a night,
Ooo what a night it was,
It really was such a night,
Came the dawn and my heart and her love and the night was,
but I'll never forget th-the kiss, th-the kiss in the moonlight,
How well I remember, I'll always remember

That night,
Ooo what a night it was,
It really was such a night,
When we kissed,
I had to fall in love,

But I gave my heart to her in sweet surrender,
How well I remember, I'll always remember

Oh that night,
Ooo what a night it was,
It really was such a night,
When we kissed I had to fall in love,
While she's gone gone gone,
Yes, she's gone gone gone,
Came the dawn dawn dawn,
And my love was gone,
But before dawn,
yes before that dawn,
And before that dawn,
OOoo, ah, Oooo, ah, Oooo, ah, Yeah, ah,
Such a NIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGHT
