What are you looking for? If it's somewhere that allows hotlinking, there isn't much to choose from. The vast majority of places don't allow it because of the bandwidth issues. I've been searching for a host for my own site. I find one that sounds decent, get things set up and then find that it either has huge disgusting banners...or the ftp doesn't work...or the images don't show....or, or or.
If you can give me some specifics on what you want to do with the space and what kind of stuff you're willing to accept, I'll let you know if there's anything I've found that will work for you. Having been looking at dozens of servers in the last few weeks, I can give you some idea of what to expect.

Thanks for your reply, Ann, I'm looking for a site to host pics I put up that will appear at this forum without people having to follow any links. I did it before with boomspeed but it seems they are pissed due to abuse of their services. Tromafan. P.S. Love your website! 🙂

I know 1 and a couple of groups
Try www.1asphost.com I post my artwork from their site all the time and the images appear on the subforum when I do. There's just 2 catchs, 1) you must activate within a month if you want your account to stay active and 2)the website is 85% reliable. Sometimes the web site can be connected to and other times there is an error page (you then have to log in again). There is 1 website that I got away with image hotlinking for a while but then I was banned for any number of reasons.
If you want 100% reliability for image hotlinking I would suggest start a yahoo group or a Smartgroup group.

Last I knew, yahoo did not allow hotlinking. I didn't notice anything in http://smartgroups.com that says you can't do it there. ASPHost and others aren't very dependable. The only one I know of that allows hotlinking without charge and is dependable is AOL. But, of course, you have to use them as your server.
The issue is that it eats up bandwidth, which is the main expense of running sites/hosts. Boomspeed will allow patriotic images to be hotlinked. But, you must have a paid membership account in order to hotlink anything else. It's not that expensive. But, when money is an issue, even a small fee can be prohibitive.
Your best bet is to do up some web pages with the images and just link to that. It's an extra step for folks, but easier than finding a host that allows hotlinking. One thing to keep in mind is that most hosts also don't allow file storing. So, if you put up images, do them on pages as a small site. That way, they'll allow it to stay. While there are a variety of "free" hosts out there, many don't allow adult content, have huge obscene banners and/or are unreliable. The best I've found so far is http://cybehosts.com Unless they've hidden something more from me (as some sites do with their banners), all they have are simple text box banners at the top and bottom of each page rather than images.

Thanks to the both of you (Rajee and Ann) for your advice on web hosting. I'm currently looking into those sites and some others and hopefully I'll have some pics up here today or asap - I'll dedicate them to you when their up. Ciao. Tromafan 😀
