I agree. I honestly don't know what it is about the story forum, the clips and drawing forums have higher post to thread ratios than the story forum. I understand that there are a ton of lurkers on sites like these. They come in get their fix and leave. Some people just contribute anonymously. However there are also people who do post. So its not like there aren't any conversations going on.
I'd hate to have to suggest this but maybe as writers we should just ask the readers directly in follow up posts to the original posting. Hey what did you think? What direction would like to see the story go? Is there a character that you would like to see tickled? I don't want to be accused of whoring my story out, but I would honestly like to know if the people like it or not. Am I wasting my time?
I understand not commenting on a bad story, nobody wants to say or hear, this sucks sorry. Yet again, if aspiring writers got constructive criticism maybe they'll bounce back with a better one.
I'm not saying that people should be forced or required to send a response. I just wish they'd open up a bit.
