Week#21-Super Bowl XLII

Well this is why I hate the Super Bowl. You have to wait 2 damn weeks to play the game. Then we have to sift through 12 hours of the pregame show. Then we have them play 30 minutes of football. Then we get a concert and of course my favorite DUMB COMMERCIALS. The only thing that can make me happy now is that pitchers and catchers are two weeks away. This all being said, I hope you guys had a fun football season. I did. I enjoyed hanging out with you guys all year long. For the final time this season, the spread for Super Bowl XLII in the league where they play... for pay.

Yes you can, in fact, mathematically beat Iggy Pop with a win for yourself and a loss for Iggy Pop. If you win and he loses you will finish out .53992 and he will finish out .53913. So yes, you have a mathematical chance.

I want to say thank you to TF4F; you done an excellent job this year. With all the drama that occurred earlier in the season; I know you felt that it wasn’t worth all the blood, sweat and tears that goes into maintaining this pool week after week.

I’m so glad you didn’t allow that person to destroy what you have built up; while pool this is only for fun; you made it very competitive, interesting, and challenging. I found myself checking stats; looking at ESPN and NFL shows, listening to sport radio, and checking injury reports in hopes of gaining an advantage for the up and coming picks.

Thank you for making football exciting for me again.

Overtime

Please, God, let it be the biggest one of all. This overbloated game has NEVER reached the fifth quarter.

Pats take an early lead, 14-0 into the 2nd quarter, then Eli throws a TD strike, cutting the lead to 14-7 at the half.

Then Brady throws a dramatic strike to Randy Moss in the 3rd quarter extending the lead to 14. On the Pats following possession, Brady throws a pick and is returned for a Touchdown, cutting the lead to 7. After the Pats next 3 and out, Eli Manning directs a 80 yard drive to tie the game up at 21 in the 4th.

The Pats get it back late with under two minutes, and get close enough for a field goal attempt. The kick goes wide right...

A 21-21 draw at the end of regulation.

Pats win the toss, but a long battle will ensue. Both teams are exhausted and mistake prone as Brady throws another interception. Eli also throws a pick and the game goes into a roller coaster of thrills.

Then a gimpy Brady throws the winning TD pass to Randy Moss, winning the game 27-21.

I almost forgot to pick this game. But that would be unfair to gluestick. So I think New England will probably win outright, but I think the giants will cover the spread. Although, I still have the sinking feeling that this may be blow out. Oh well.

New York Giants +12 versus New England Patriots in Glendale, Arizona

This game is a simple one, everyone including most of us on this board have underestimated the Giants. A lot of you thought the Cowboys would win: Didn't happen. A lot of you thought Green Bay would win: Didn't happen. Let the Giants continue to be underestimated. The Patriots are offended that the " spygate " stuff has come up again. My response is simple: You cheated and the fact that Roger Goldall destroyed the tapes proved you cheated and that the League and the Patriots had something to hide. Fact is they have been cheating for years. Now the Patriots and their fans are offended. Well that is too damn bad. Don't cheat and then their won't be a reason to be offended.

The game itself the Giants must play keep away. They must drive the ball ten plays every drive and get points everytime. Can't go three and out tonight. Eli Manning can't turn the ball over and the Giants offensive line MUST block well for Manning. Brandon Jacobs and Amhad Bradshaw are going to be keys to this game. The Giants MUST run the ball to have a chance to win the game. If the Giants score 35 points in this game like they did in week#17 of the season they will win this game.

For the Patriots: Score and play relatively good defense to keep the Giants from running this game into the fourth quarter with a chance to win. Patriots need to score early and often to take the Giants out of this game. If they don't and the Giants hold the Patriots then the Giants will make this a game. All the pressure is on the Patriots. The Giants after beating the Cowboys have been playing with house money. Nobody expected them to be here. The Patriots must win this game or being undefeated to this point is meaningless.

Final thoughts: The Giants can win this game. The Patriots know this. The Patriots know that if they lose this was just a good season and nothing more. I don't like two weeks between the Championship games and the Super Bowl. They should get back to the way it was. Usually the underdog has no shot at winning this game unless they play a perfect game. As we all know that seems highly unlikely because everyone even the favorites make mistakes. all of this said, I will root on the Giants like crazy. I hope the officials play no part in this game like they did in the Eagles/Patriots game and then the Ravens/Patriots game. Keep your damn flags in your pockets unless there is something blatant. I think after all this: pressure on the Patriots, they will make mistakes.

Final Score: Giants 31- Patriots 27.

Enjoy the game if you can. I will tape the game and watch Law and Order SVU. Then at about 11pm EST, I will stop recording and rewind the game and watch the game WITHOUT commercial interuption and without a one hour halftime show. I will watch the game in an hour with what will take the public four hours to get through and I get to watch Mariska Hargitay kick ass. A perfect Super Bowl Sunday!!! Law and Order SVU and a one hour game. TOO COOL!!! Let's go Giants!!!
