Lisa, what a brill idea :bouncybou

I know you've lost a lot of weight recently (well done) I know it ain't easy and the worse bit is when you have lost the weight is keeping it off.

I could do with someone telling me off, as I've decided come Monday I'm gonna diet again and go running. I've lost 5 stone (70 lbs) and I've noticed some of it creeping back on again *cry cry cry*. I'm determined to stop that from getting out of hand.

So, good luck to everyone trying to lose weight or get fit/fitter 😎

Lisa, I hope you get better real quick 🙂

Well its Monday; Day 1 of eating healthy & exercising.

I've had a good day (for me woohoo) eaten very good and went out for a jog for 45 mins straight after work. My legs are aching now so I'll for sure be feeling that (and my arse) the next couple of days.

Bloody thing is I'm now hungry and am really trying my best at not going for some hot toast with butter yumm. But I'll be a good girl and resist.

Keep with the plan people 😛 :cuddle:

yes just say no to the toast.. say yes to some fresh fruit or veggys.. or protein... ya can do it.. I believe in you beautiful...

HUGSSSSSS/Lisa

I was a good girl today.. had 1/2 huge muffin for breakfast and sm protein shake, 1/2 ham sandwich and a piece of cz for lunch, but had 3 pieces of taffy around 4p for my sugar bottomed out at work and I was very grouchy so that my coworkers made me test my sugar... yikers... they shoved the taffy at me.. was the closest thing we had for instant sugar around us at the time

It`s good to see some others join us in our quest! One thing that I`ve always found is that it`s a lot easier to stick with a program if you have a support system. I`d so much rather have my entire wrestling team cutting weight together than just one wrestler!

It`s great having someone like Lisa here to keep me on track,as well! I`ll admit,I don`t want to falter and incur her wrath!Having listened on the phone as she uses that firm hand with Saydee,I know I don`t want any part of that!😛 I`ll stick to the program, thank you very much! Her rewards are much nicer!😉😛

I`d recommend you take an aspirin,Slap`n`ticklee ! That will help you fight through the discomfort of the first couple days, until you get used to using those muscles again! Glad to have you with us!:happyfloa

Hey thanks for the advice; I know what I need right now some bloody choccie :firedevil 😉 And thanks for the welcome :justlips:

AND DO YOU HAVE IDEAS HOW TO DO IT? I HAVE TRIED AT LEAST 80 TIMES.... BUT IT ALWAYS CAME BACK WHEN I GOT IN STRESSED SITUATIONS, AND AS A TEACHER I GET INTO MANY, YOU KNOW..... SO MY BACK HURTS, CANNOT MOVE, OR DO EXERCISES JUST SLIGHT ONES... I WALK A LOT... I HARDLY EAT BREAD PASTA AND THINGS.... I LOST 16 POUNDS THEN GAINED BACK 10.... I NEED A REAL AIM...SOMETHING WHICH WORTH IT.... MORE THAN CHOCOLATE... SO IF YOU HAVE ANY GOOD IDEAS, TELL ME PLEASE, THANKS IN ADVANCE. :grouphug:

Saeria, thank you for your kind comments!:smilestar

I know how easy it is to be a procrastinator....but perhaps you could join us if you are interested? We`d love to have you with us,and it truly IS easier to do if you are with others participating as well! :happyfloa

You`ve already taken the first step....By setting down the "Sporks of Doom!"😉

There are many theories on how to lose weight. My personal belief is that you need to increase your activity level, and decrease you caloric intake. I know this is a somewhat simplistic answer, but it`s a good basis from which to start.

The thing that we really need to understand is that it takes TIME to lose weight. We didn`t wake one morning to suddenly discover ourselves overweight, (Although it sure seems that way, sometimes, doesn`t it?),it accumulated over time.Short of surgical means,we can`t realistically expect to lose it overnight, either.

For an adult just starting out,I`d recommend beginning easy.Just cut one thing out of your diet to start with, whether it`s that bowl of ice cream before bed,or a doughnut in the morning. This will give you the CONFIDENCE to continue,as you set a realistic goal. Additionally, increase your activity.I`m not saying that we all need to turn into marathon runners, but pick something that you CAN do! Walk, cut the grass with a push mower,do yardwork, participate in a sport, dance! Try to vary your activities to keep them from becoming tedious and boring. But DO SOMETHING! And stick to it!Which is where having a partner really makes a difference!

As a high school wrestling coach,I can tell you, having someone else with you makes all the difference in the world! I`d much rather have my entire team cutting weight, than only one individual. People feed off of the success of others, and NEED to have a support system. Having others to talk to,and encourage you,who are there with you,and know how hard it is make a huge difference!

That ought to get you started. Please feel free to PM me or post here if you have other questions.I`m glad you`re with us!:wavingguy

I just wanted to give all of you a kudos for joining in with us and say it is easier when you know you have ppl there with you to support you. I know when I am naughty I can call Killi and he will be there for me and I for him.. so as we all become true freinds I will gladly do that for you as well if you want.. send me a pm and I will give you my phone number.

What helped me with loosing the weight was slowly increasing my activity.. OK confession time to give you some encouragement..I was way over 300 pds, was a 5x in scrubs for work.. now I am a 2x in pants, I still like mytops a little big but that is my choice. I did it by having a lap band which is a type of gastric surgery.. but even with that you CAN GAIN WEIGHT if you dont eat right and move your body.

I know some of you may have health issues and are not able to work out as you think you should.. dont think that.. only do what you can.. even if it is doing deep knee bends while you vaccume, park far away from the door when you go shopping instead of looking for the closest parking spot.. using the stairs instead of the elevator for a few floors... do what you can.. a little makes a big diff in the long run..you can also get a $2.00 dollar kids ball put between your knees and squeee for sets of ten while watching tv, instead of bending over at the waiste to pick something up off the floor.. do a squat to pick it up.. see you can do things with out thinking about it.. while standing in line tighten your butt muscles.

For food, I eat all the time. I eat small amts every 3-4 hrs and try to get in lots of protein even if its a piece of cheese.. so have 3 meals and 3 snacks but make sure they are small... you will find that you eat less eatting 6 times a day then if you eat 3 big meals for your never hungry. Try to get in lots of fruit and veggys. make those your snacks but keep in mind fruit may make you hungry if eatten alone for it will raise your sugar level. I am not saying this will work for you , I am not promoting any diet program at all : but what really worked for me whas not mixing my foods..esp carbs.. EX. the fit for life program. of having protein with veggys or carbs with veggys... not mixing your carbs with protein. and having fruit on an empty stomach.. basically 50-60% of your meals are veggys.

Excellent advice!!!

Multiple small meals/snacks spread over the course of a day is a good plan to follow! Knowing that food is forthcoming will help you to fight off the feeling of hunger that seems to follow dieters constantly!

I also agree with what you said concerning fruit.Fruit IS good, but it does contain lots of sugar. When my kids are cutting,I encourage them to eat their fruits in the morning,to maintain their energy levels. In the late afternoon/evening,it`s better to switch over to vegetables, taking care not to over-do it with dips or dressings.Still, the important thing is to start some sort of program, and stick with it.For most of us adults,a simple substitution of veggies for sweets will make a noticeable difference over time.

Stay motivated,people!!!:smilestar

I wish you two all the best with losing as much weight as you want to.

I myself had weight issues for several years. At my highest I weighed 240. I tried the Atkins Diet the first time and quickly lost about 35 lbs., but it hurt my complexion, I lost all energy and muscle, and felt terrible. So I quit that and put the weight back on. I tried South Beach another time and again lost a significant amount of weight, but I found when things got busy I didn't have the time to always go somewhere that had the right type of foods, or I didn't have time to cook. Again, I quit and gained the weight back.

For me I personally beat my weight issues by making a resolution to make overall smarter eating choices and just exercise more. I eat mainly low-calorie yogurt or oatmeal for breakfast, a salad for lunch, and chicken or fish for dinner. For dessert I'll get low-fat frozen yogurt once in a while.

But the main difference was for the first time ever, I actually resolved that I was going to start working out regularly, which I could never stick to while I was in college or grad school. When my focus was initially just weight loss, I would go to the gym 3-4 times a week and run about 15-20 miles a week. This was probably overkill, but it put me in a positive mindset that I could do that much exercise, and that there was no reason I couldn't keep doing it. It also improved my metabolism and energy. I find now that sometimes I will lose weight even after a week where I didn't get to the gym as long as I ate well.

Again, all the best with your weight loss goals. Having a weight loss partner is a great idea btw. I always do best when I have someone to motivate me. If you ever wish to talk, please let me know. I'd be happy to discuss my thoughts on this matter in greater detail if you are interested. Cheers.
