Great clip, but that's not Zasu Pitts, that's some bit player. Hot reaction. The pre-code tickles are always hotter because they DO seem more spontaneous and unscripted.

Directors produce what is scripted. It's pure fantasy that people keep saying about various scenes that "oh, they just ad libbed that." Yes, I'm in film and TV, although mostly public television these days. People stick to scripts. I could just as easily say you were on site the day the actors decided to just do what they felt like.

I don't understand what you're claiming here - I've seen about a hundred director's commentaries where the director says a particular scene came out of something the actors did spontaneously on the set in the moment.

I mean, it sounds like you're saying people don't ad lib. And while I don't want to get into an argument, that is an untrue statement and there's really no two ways about it.
