This is a question that interests me as well, and I'm glad that you posted this poll.
I can see a problem with it, though. People's answers may vary depending on whether they get the clips for free (like if they find them posted illegally somewhere trade with other people) or they pay for them. In and of itself, it certainly doesn't hurt for a clip to be fairly long. But if it's a commercial clip that's obtained legally (i.e. by buying it), it's possible that the customer might prefer a shorter clip, because longer clips are more expensive. Oh, a longer clip may be a better deal in terms of cost per minute. For instance, due to the limitations of the Clips4sale.com system, my own 10-min clips cost 8.99$ each, while my 5-min clips are 5.99$ (I wish I could make that lower). One might argue that the former is a better deal, but it's still more expensive than the latter. Some customers may prefer to get shorter clips that cost less (even if they cost more per minute) so they can get more variety, like more clips with different models, for instance. They might not mind that these clips are shorter, figuring that a few minutes is enough to enjoy a scene and that extra minutes aren't worth as much as getting a completely different clip.
So anyway, I can't help but wonder if the people who answered the poll interpreted the question as "What clip length do you prefer to watch?" or "What clip length do you prefer to buy?"
Other than that, it's an intriguing, relevant and even useful question to ask.

Yes, this is an issue with clips4sale. The price of a 5-min clip can't be made lower than $5.99, which is pretty bad. It puts us off from making clips of this length even when a short intense clip is sometimes a nice thing.

It seems to me that since we're the owners of our own clips we should be allowed to select any price we want. But apparently the C4S people don't see it that way. It's pretty frustrating, and it may actually result in less revenue, which ironically also affects C4S. Then again, maybe there's a reasonable technical reason for this. For instance, maybe a sale of less than $5.99 for a 5-min clip isn't worth it for them because of the bandwidth use and/or the banking fees it involves. But I'm still not convinced that it hurts them enough not to allow us full control over the price of our own clips. More flexibility would be most welcome.
Last Laugh - I think your analysis answered your own question.... They are a business, out to make a profit, and so...certain minimums, costs, etc. The rest of us may not like it, but them's the breaks. I personally would like the whole darned thing to be free, but, hey I know that ain't gonna happen LOL.
