Okay, this is a thread about what each of us is going to cook for ourselves this weekend. List the dish, and the ingredients, and cook time. Myself, I'm going to cook...

Calamari

Ingredients

* 3 cups vegetable oil
* 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 1 teaspoon dried oregano
* 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
* 12 squid, cleaned and sliced into rings
* 1 lemon - cut into wedges, for garnish

Directions

1. Preheat oil in a heavy, deep frying pan or pot. Oil should be heated to 365 degrees F (180 degrees C).
2. In a medium size mixing bowl mix together flour, salt, oregano and black pepper. Dredge squid through flour and spice mixture.
3. Place squid in oil for 2 to 3 minutes or until light brown. Beware of overcooking, squid will be tough if overcooked. Dry squid on paper towels. Serve with wedges of lemon.

Now...

Whatchu gonna cook sucka?

Well, I'm not much of a cook, and my "weekend" falls in the middle of the rest of humanities work week. That said, I grilled up a tasty steak with a sprinkle of Cavender's Greek seasoning(I put that shit on everything!) and then grilled up some Conecuh hickory smoked sausage which I used in some mac n' cheese for meals later on this week.

Dude, when I come down there, I'm going to make some Calamari.

I am going to cook a delicious garlic supreme pizza with cheese stuffed into the crust itself. It's actually very fun and easy to do also!

Ingredients:

1. Telephone
2. Telephone service
3. Money

Pay telephone service (2) using Money (3), and with other Money (3) pay for a telephone (1). Call 1-800-goog-411 and command it to give you pizza. Pay the man when when the pizza arrives using more Money (3). Enjoy your delicious pizza. Don't forget to add Tabasco sauce for that extra punch! 😀

Better-than-the-buffet vegetable fried rice

Cook some rice, whichever kind you like, white, brown, Basmati, whatever. Use a rice cooker or the usual pot on top of the stove. You know the drill, 2 cups or so of water for every cup of rice (2.5 cups for brown rice if memory serves). Cook until rice is tender and all water is absorbed.

Beat a couple of eggs in a bowl with milk or water as though you were going to make scrambled eggs.

Put some frozen vegetables into a microwave-safe bowl and zap them until cooked.

Chop up however much onion or garlic you like. In a pinch, chopped garlic in a jar will do. Use half a teaspoon or so.

Take out your wok, the one which you got for your birthday several years ago but could never figure out how to use. Put some oil in the very bottom of it, preferably toasted sesame oil. Turn on the heat. Set it at medium so as not to burn the oil or anything else. Saute the onions and garlic. Add some grated ginger root to taste. If using powdered ginger, add that to taste at the very end of the recipe. (If you don't have a wok, a large, deep skillet might suffice. Watch the heat, be careful not to burn stuff).

Add the nuked vegetables to the wok. Stir them around for a while. Add some cooked rice and stir that too. When everything is suitably melanged, add the egg mixture and the powdered ginger if that's what you're using. A little curry powder to taste might not be a bad thing either. Stir until eggs are cooked.

Serve immediately with tamari, or soy sauce (the genuine Japanese kind, not the crummy supermarket kind with the corn syrup in it).

Let's see....

Should I start with the sirloin tip steaks grilled, sauteed chopped broccoli and roasted new potatoes or.....

Grilled lamb steaks (loin), rice pilaf and mixed (carrots, broccoli and califlower) veggies or.....

Grilled boneless and skinless chicken thighs, noodles with butter herb sauce, corn on the cob or ......

BBQ ribs (baby backs), baked potatoes, baked beans (vegatarian style, no bacon).

Wonder why we hardly go out to dinner anymore? None of the places we used to go to don't even have anything close to this.

I have always love to cook. My wife lets me create meals anyway I want. I don't use salt or pepper, only spices. Nothing hot either.
