I have worked several different jobs in a variety of fields over the years as I have gone through college and graduate school. One skill I have picked up is being extremely good at blowing very large bubbles with a bubble wand. What is a fun or odd skill you have learned from a job?

I got really good at bagging groceries 😆 So good I was almost sent to the national grocery bagging competition (yes, it's a thing) in Las Vegas.

It's kind of like playing Tetris, but more soul crushing.

Oh geez, where do I start?? Odd ones…not directly related to the profession, hhmm:

I can pack any box and have little to no wasted space. I know how to keep a dog from shaking their coat during a bath. I learned to narrate for animals to make it seem like a ridiculous documentary. I’m really good at getting cars out that are stuck. I can put one hell of a shine on shoes/boots. I can maintain a poker face even during the funniest moments. I can figure out which eye is dominant. I can freak people out and make them think I can read minds. I can crochet now (definitely never job task lol). I can pick up most languages fast, and their accent almost immediately.

Just a few lol

Working for the airlines one of the assignments was called brake riding. That's when a crew member of the airline who's not the pilot will sit in the captains seat ( left side as your sitting down ) in a completely empty plane, put on the headset to talk with the pushback tractor driver and the ATC ( Air Traffic Control tower ) asking the tower for clearance to move from one area of the airport to the other. When given the instructions from the tower. I repeat the instructions back to the tower and then communicate to the pushback driver the same message then say brakes released, cleared for pushback. You have to be trained and signed off on this particular position

How to properly wear and make use of a gas mask and protective clothing. You might think that's a funny thing to say but believe me, it wasn't funny at all. We had guys dying of shit like skin cancer and others getting pulmunary fibrosis and other respitory diseases.

The worst part was I was the only one showing up to work protected and my boss ultimately gave me an ultimatum, either ditch the protective gear and gas mask or find myself a new job. Naturally, I told him I quit, gave him "the finger", told him he had the skeletons of dead good men in his closet, and got my ass the hell out of there.

I believe he was prosecuted for not complying with NY state and Federal Government law come to think of it.

Inside of a few seconds I can tell you the decimal equivalent of the fractions found on an SAE ruler up to 64ths.
