i have a first edition book called "The Little Colonel and other stories" that was given to me as a baby..it was published in 1892..

what is your oldest possession?

o and i love to open the book...nothing beats the smell of an old book..

hmmm I probably have something older than what I possess, but the item I will speak about is special to me. It is a 40 years old wooden dice, painted black with only two possibilities... yes and no. I use it almost everyday to persuade people that it can predict the future... and trust me it is unbelievable, but it guesses right.

I've got a penny from 1797. It's pretty worn (it's in "fair" condition for those of you who follow the British grading system) but you can still make out the king's head and Britannia on the reverse.

Family bible from my mothers side of the family,29 november 1862, i have just moved it and the other books fell over its so big,it was in the states for a while when they lived there but,it's been back in england since the about 1936 i think, births, deaths, and marriages, and military service are all recorded.I'am not that religious ithink religion is not so popular now as it was then.I just wish that book could talk to me.

My catfish. He/she is 20 years old and still doing well in its fish tank. Been to college, cincy, and akron.

I have a very small cylinder seal from ancient Mesopatamia (ca. 1000 BC).

I have a Commodore VIC-20 from 1981 that still works, and a Sears TV from 1978 that no longer functions. Off the top of my head, those're the oldest things I have.

We are in possession of the entire Universe! There is nothing more ancient or more grand than all of creation. Held and controlled in the name of the great god, Dyzan!

(But for real, I own a 1973 Fender Mustang guitar)

Some of my grandpa's IRA medals are in the apartment somewhere. He was born in 1895, so the medals really aren't that old. But they're cool.

I have a Columbia Records cylinder record from 1903. You know, one of those cylindrical phonograph records they used before the invention of 78RPM disc records. If you wanna hear what these ancient recordings sounded like, go here.

I have my Dad's first shop project from High School. It's a cedar box that he made that we now store our good silverware in. It was given to my wife and I as a wedding gift from my Great Aunt Margaret (on of my Dad's aunts). It seems one of my Dad's uncles got a hold of a lot of the family items and had them stored away somewhere, hoarding them from my Dad's family. He recognized it right away, a tear in his eye as we read the note she left in it. It will now be passed to my son, and will be passed to the oldest child from here on. Date would be early 1940's.

My dad has old coins from Mexico dating back to 1872. When he passed away they became mine.

But my own personal oldest possessions are a couple of toys. A Hot Wheels set that I got for Christmas 1968 called 'The Stunt Action Set' with a Custom Barracuda car that I still have. This year will be 40 years ago. And some pieces of an old TYCO train set called 'The Santa Fe Express'. That was Christmas 1969. Of course, I have added to both collections over the years. Mostly old Hot Wheels.

I have some baby stuff of mine but I don't really count that stuff since I don't remember having it.

P.S. I still pull out the TYCO's and Hot Wheels every Christmas as I did yesterday when we put up our tree.
