I split mt radio time between ESPN 1360, 1530 Homer (the local sports station), 1050 WCVX to hear Dave Ramsey's show and K-Love, a nationwide CCM station
I have a few favorites. My local talk station 560 AM WHYN. I also like WEEI 105.5 FM for my Patriots and Red Sox sports talk. Although I haven't listened to them in a while I like 102.1 WAQY for classic rock. I listen to a few other local stations when they play the 70s and 80s stuff usually on the weekend.
I'll also hop onto internet radio and just stream a random station of two. I love listening to the foreign stuff.
God, I haven't listened to the radio in years since it began to totally and completely suck. But if I can find a good metal or 80's XM station, I'll listen to it.
Very true. There used to be a really cool local rock-music station around here (RockFM) that I listened to all of the time, but they went out of business a year ago, and their frequency was given to a very annoying lounge/relaxation music station (ZenFM). Haven't listened to radio since.
I do listen to TMFradio, but that's not really radio in the technical sense, more so since I can't tune in directly (there's a too great time difference between the US and Belgium), and a such I have to download and listen to the podcasts. And listening to MP3's obviously isn't radio at all...
Where I live, every station that's not NPR or the local college station is owned by Citadel, or the standard-bearer of bland, computer-generated radio, Clear Channel. Maximum suck factor.
Which is why when I'm not listening to the news or talk on NPR, I'm listening to WFMU. Heck, I was even at that neat annual record fair they had this weekend. Didn't have much money, but their bargain bins kicked serious butt!
you all need to move here then...my radio station is cool, except for the commercial ads..but they don't have many of those..and on weekday mornings from ten to eleven no commercials at all..after the John Boy and Billy big show..
the radio station plays only rock, hard rock at that..however they do from time to time play FlyLeaf which i consider pop bubble gum..and i can't stand females who sing in a little girl voice..so fake..
I listen to our local NPR affiliate the most. I also like to tune into Dr. Michio Kaku's program Science Fantastic late Saturday nights, on the way home from work on news-talk 1380.
On the Net, I enjoy SomaFM for their ambient-tones.
I miss the great college radio I used to listen to up in Atlanta in the mid-80's. I hope they are still going strong. :note:
