I wasn't sure where exactly to put this but since it's related to videos I decided to put it here.
Quick question for you guys...
Lately I have toyed with the idea of creating high quality pay-per-download video clips. Is there any interest here for that? If so...what would you like to see?

Nessie subjected to the evil and sadistic nature of Kujman who could inflict tortures on poor Nessie that would make you cringe? (dont pick that one!)

C'mon...I know you don't REALLY want to see me shrieking and hollering and begging, do you? Nahhh...I'm sure there's no interest whatsoever...

Hi Nessie,

How bout this one! I'm sure this idea has been played out but to see you tickled tortured, it would be worth it!

You play a secret agent and your carrying some secret plans but you have then hidden away. You are captured, and placed in stocks, your toes tied together and back, and your feet are tickled with a special tickling feather made for torturing spies.

Would love to see Nessie tickle tortured!

That will be so cool. and Please make an available 2- 5 min clip for the peopl who cant afford to buy the whole thing, that is if you do decide to charge for it. It's pretty much decided that Kuj will be my 'ler. The degree of evilness that he will inflict on me hasn't get been determined. 😛. Maybe a "nice" version and an "evil" version to make everyone happy. 😀

It's rather disheartening to see that most people would like to see me go ahead with it but would not buy it. Just being honest I guess. 11 people thus far have voted for a full length video which surprises me because I thought downloadables were the wave of the future.
Anyway...thanks all for your voice! Vote if you havent yet! 🙂 And will the 2 people who have voted that it's a bad idea please tell me why they think that? That important too! Thanks!

I don't really know about short commercial clips - ala Real Tickling.

Maybe you should add more options. "Free" demo clips appeal to everybody, and you could host them here effectively zero-cost.

Full length videos are still popular enough - even if ppl now buy them in digital format [usually dvd, sometimes hi-quality mpegs].

Short commercial clips raise the issue of "uncontrolled" [illegal] sharing: they are small enough to be readily copied over the net, yet they are so big as to put a dent into your earnings.
Besides you'd have to pay a site to host them.

On the other hand, dvd sale poses problems too - such as physical reproduction and delivery in a discreet package.

Still, if you want to sell something longer lasting, cds and tapes give you less bang for bucks, BUT give the would be customers something hard and feely - in a word: durable.

Thanks for all the advise, K! 🙂 No matter what I choose to do I will definately offer smaple clips. I can't stand it when someone expects you to pay for something you havent seen yet. That's like buying a car without a test drive. Besides...that usually means they have some quality issues they wish to hide until they have your money.
I too have some hesitation with selling downloadables due to fact that is would be way to easy for people to cheat and get freebies. No way to stop that unfortunately. If I personally were to buy something I'd want a video or dvd cause frankly I like a big tv screen better than a 320x240 pixel video. Much better value that way and you dont lose your money if your hard drive crashes.
In any case...they wont be expensive.
Decisions decisions!

HD crashes are just my point: a cared for tape/dvd is less damage prone than a single file - barely filling a tenth or even less of an empty cd.

About sample clips: I like to call them "demos" - just like demo games or shareware progs.

It enforces the idea of something relatively cheap [cheaper than a car] but requiring further examination than a passing looksee at the box.
