Whats does .ram mean?

I was just wondering because alot of clips here are in .ram format What does that mean😕? I downloaded Quicktime player(again) to if that would fix the problem but it Didn't i still can't view .ram clips with Quicktime player or Windows media player version 9. and on the family computer i use alot we Got Win98

it's an extension for real media files. go to www.real.com and look for their free player.

If you look around the real.com site, you can find the free version of RealOne for download... but you do have to look, as I remember.

Actually .ram is short for random access memory which is one of the ways your computer stores information. I hope this helps you out.

It does work real player downloaded fine But i have ONE Problem! on the Real player basic one that i downloaded every time i try to click on a .ram clip after it loads up some it says updates needed or something along thoses lines. Im running CABLE high speed broadband and windows 98

anybody know why it says this?

but i can get clips sent to me through my msn messenger fine its just when i try to watch .ram files on this site that it does that

I get that occasionally. It means I think that the file you are trying to veiw needs some sort of extra component in the player to make it work. I guess once you have all the components it'll stop doing that.

Yes a damn problem, what Real do you have BBR ? Real one or another ?
About those .ram file they are working very well with that program. In some cases when the clips are not viewable try to rename them, I had situations when the clip was tell mpeg and was unreadable.
I then changed the extension ( mpg, avi, and so on until it worked 😀 ).

I have the Real one Its the Basic set one Its Not that Pay one Where you gotta pay money to use it. But i uninstalled the first Free Real one i installed and then i installed it again from Reals website and it seems to work fine for me now. Haven't had any problems yet *knock on wood*😛 but a few video clips i have tried to play from like geocitie sites some are kinda fuzzy and not that Good video quality. But other then that thats the only problem i have had so far.
