I'm listening to Green Day right now, and since they're my favorite, I thought I'd ask everyone else's.

aerosmith is my favorite band of all time, Queen and Barenaked Ladies run second and third respectively

I'm...old

Gotta be the Stones.... Creed if we're trying to be a bit more up to date. Q

I don't think I have ONE favorite band. I go through phases and what I listen to depends primarily on my mood. Generally, I like R&B and Dance Music.😀

but more seriously......

I am just watching Diana Krall on the telly, she has to be one of my fav bands at the moment, so nice to hear people who have learnt to play and sing before starting their recording careers (Bod Dylan still cant manage it) who knows maybe this novel concept will catch on.

Hey Q I saw an interview with Bill Whyman the other day were he admits he does not know the name of the open strings on his guitar! (pond life or what???!!!!)

1) Rush

2) Marillion

3) Asia

4) Led Zeppelin

5) REO Speedwagon

6) Jethro Tull

7) Peter Gabriel

8) Triumph

9) Phish

10) Buster Hymen and the Penetrators

(Don't ask on that last one....long story😀 )

For me, it's gotta be:
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
and:
old Van Halen (up to Diver Down)
old Aerosmith (up to Permanent Vacation)
old Jethro Tull (up to Stormwatch)
old ZZ-Top (up to Eliminator)
old Deep Purple (up to Who Do You Think We Are)

Guess there's a pattern here, huh?

I'm All Over The Musical Spectrum...

1. Dream Theater

2. George Lynch/Lynch Mob/Dokken (Up to "Back For The Attack")

3. TNT

4. John Sykes/Whitesnake/Thin Lizzy (w/John Sykes)

5. Steve Vai

6. Yngwie Malmsteen

7. Alan Holdsworth

8. Gino Vanelli (w/Carlos Rios on Guitar)

9. Tony McAlpine

10.Talas/Mr. Big/Paul Gilbert/David Lee Roth (all with Billy Sheehan on Bass Guitar)

11.King Kobra (with Carmine Appice on Drums)

12.Journey (original cast only, save for Ross Valory)

13.Stryper (any guitarist has got to love Ozz Fox)

14.Robin Trower (Particularly "Bridge Of Sighs")

15.Rush (up to Permanent Waves)*tips hat to Dave2112 on this one*

16.Styx (up to Paradise Theater)

17.Boston

18.Stonefury ("Burns Like A Star," in particular)

19.Ozzy Osbourne (except for Brad Gillis)

20.Nightranger (Jeff Watson makes Brad Gillis more bearable, for some chemical reason)

And if I continue...the entire thread will be consumed by Me....LOL!!!😀

*GuitarPeteTklr proudly shreds his way back into tickling oblivion*

Good God, Dave2112, you really told your age with that post :] Brafus, too; it's good to know there some of my peers on this board.

Prime: thank you for your Pink Floyd endorsement. I think everyone should listen to The Wall, I don't care who you are. My music tastes are not impeccable, though; I'm listening to "Play That Funky Music" by Wild Cherry right now.

Also, honorable mention has to be given to those bands that, along with Daddy, I spent much time with in the '80's: Y&T, Dokken, Iron Maiden, Warlock, Yngwie Malmsteen, Talas...

...oh yeah, don't forget Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters. Awesome little combo.😎

Then & Now . . .

Dangit, I am so compulsive I cannot help but categorize my musical interests by decade. *Grr!*

70s:
Blondie (I used to have such a crush on her when I was a kid! LOL!)
the Beatles, the Who, etc.

80s:
Police
Heart (when Sue Ennis wrote lyrics)
Tears for Fears

90s:
Beastie Boys
Everclear

00s:
(get back to me in a few years when I've made up my mind)

Genre wise, I'm more of a BLUESY-JAZZY kinda girl if you're talking about what I listen to most of the time. As far as BANDS or individuals there are a few that don't fall into my category of favorite music, but whom I like a lot and enjoyed the concerts of some more than others.

RUSH
CCR
Triumph *the Time Canon...sigh*
Jimmy Buffet
Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys
Etta James
and
Our very own Red Indian *not too shabby I seriosuly gotta say*

and I've got a soft spot for the soundtrack for Oh, Brother Where Arte Thou
