Even though I'm not here every day anymore, I thought I would post this.

I had .. a massive seizure in my apartment late Friday night/early Saturday, and was knocked out for several hours.

When I came to, I had blood all over my face. I realized I had a seizure in bed, rolled out of bed, had another seizure on the floor , hit my head, and been knocked out.

I called EMS and was rushed to Jamaica Hospital. They said if I had not woken up, I might have died.

I was in the ER for 18 hours.

They did all kinds of scans, and I have to see a neurelogist. Its possible I might have epilepsy.

I have bruises all over my face which will supposedly heal.

They had wanted to send me home yesterday, but I said no. I felt weak yesterday,, but I feel pretty strong today.

My Dad wanted me to go to a rehab center for a week or two, because I live alone. I didnt want to stay with Cheryl and him because they have their own things, even though he did visit me ,and drive me home.

Now I just have to rest and get back to myself, and they have to figure out what caused the seizure. They have me on anti seizure meds.

I feel a little weak, but good to be home.

I felt bad about causing my Dad and aunts so much stress, but they said they just want me to get better.

Anyhow, so thats the story.

Hopefully, tests will find a treatable cause (or at least nothing life threatening) and medications will control the seizures. That's scary, Mitch. Glad you came through ok.

Thanks, des. I appreciate the support.

A friend of my Dad's who is a surgeon, recommended a guy who is supposedly a good neruologist. I think I'm going to take a few days to heal and rest before going to him.

Very sorry to hear of your troubles, Mitch. I hope the treatment helps you and prevents future seizures.

Mitch what happened to you is awful, I hope you are able to find treatment so that you never have to go through that ever again. Wishing you all the best

Thank You, Angel. I appreciate it.

This has been a very rough year for my family. In addition to my episode, my aunt the astrologer, who I've mentioned on here, had a mild heart attack literally days before my situation happened. She's 67, and a heavy smoker, even though my mom, her sister, died of cancer from smoking, as forum members who know me, are aware.

My Dad thinks stress was the cause of my problem. .

I plan on taking a nice chill pill for however long. Hopefully, the physical injuries will heal, so I can get back to myself, and get back on track.

A couple of things I had to.. laugh at.. in such an.. unpleasant situation.

When my Dad got to the hospital yesterday, he wanted me to go to rehab for a week.. to.. "Get back on my feet"., so to speak.

I was so fed up of being poked, prodded, picked, etc, that I just wanted to come home.

My Dad said to me in front of someone: "If you were under 18, Mitch, I'd sign you into rehab to get back on your feet, but you're an adult, so if you want to go home, I have no choice".

I kept mulling over the choices. "More bad food, lying in bed.. and being.. annoyed every five minutes"

or..

"Jim Gardner, and Chinese Food".

I chose the latter, even though I didnt have Chinese Food last night for dinner. I settled for pizza.

Another weird thing was my blood pressure. Most on the forum know I have high BP, diagnosed ten years ago.

In the ER it was sky high, something like 170 over 100.

The minute they got me to a regular room, it was consistently between 110 over 70 and 120 over 80.

A couple of doctors didnt understand why I'm on BP meds when my BP was normal.

My Dad said to me "When you get home, Mitch, your BP will go up 60 poiints".

It;s like :Thanks for the encouragement.

I was like to myself "No, my BP wont go up, I'll have Jim Gardner to calm me down".

In the hospital, of course, I couldnt watch Jim Gardner. I had to settle for Liz Cho, at least on Monday night.

A friend of my Dad's who is a surgeon, recommended a guy who is supposedly a good neurologist. I think I'm going to take a few days to heal and rest before going to him.

^I would suggest that you see a neurologist ASAP.^

Thanks, Carl. I do plan to see one. I'm waiting to get an appointment with him.

Very sorry to hear what happened to you, Mitch, and best wishes to make a complete recovery. Seizures are scary as f*ck, I know, not just for the person who has to endure one but especially for his/her loved ones who have to watch the horrible thing in progress and are completely powerless to do anything about it. I know the first time I saw my last wife have one, and one of the severest kinds at that, the first one she'd ever even had which came on out of nowhere, I nearly died of fright myself not having any idea in Hell of what was going on nor how to help her (fortunately I regained enough sense at least to dial 911).

I echo the recommendations of others here to get this checked out immediately by going to a neurologist. I assume he/she will order an MRI for you, and I really, really don't want to make your worry about this more than is necessary--I remember what happened to your mother and am certainly aware of how that has affected you--but that's how they discovered my wife's brain tumor. It was the only way they could; she had had no other symptoms up to that point, but the tumor had just grown to the point where it crowded her good brain tissue such that it set off the neurons or whatever in her brain to misfire so significantly that her massive seizure resulted. I definitely hope nothing like this is discovered by whatever tests the neurologist calls up for you; I'm not an M.D. myself and thus know next to nothing about all the possible factors that can actually cause seizures (at least I know epilepsy that is another possible cause), but this event was a wake-up call at the very least and you owe it to yourself and to those who care about you not to let it go unheeded.

Thanks, Ned. I appreciate the insight.

They did scans on me at the hospital. In fact, my internist had my scans, and I wanted her to send them to my Dad and a nerologist who my Dad and a Dr friend of his know, but, due to the whole "You're over 18 thing", my internist wont talk to my Dad or the Dr until she talks to me first, so I have a call into her to try and get this all resolved. I dont know if I will need more scans, or if the nerologist just has to look at the ones taken at the hospital to decide what to do with me. I'm already on anti seizure meds that are making me very tired. I've slept a lot since coming home from the hospital, and went out for the first time today, just to have lunch, and get some fresh air.

My right eye is almost all better, but the left one is a purple color that looks like a classic "Black Eye" that one would get if in a schoolyard fight, etc.

I'm definitely going to go get it taken care of ASAP, trust me.'

Thanks again.

Sorry to hear this bad news. hopefully youll get this straightened out asap.

Welcome back Mitch! Glad you're back and kickin' good buddy. We always knew your father loved you, so it's great that you've both realized that and that your relationship has solidified with him after he's helped you out so much through this. Family really can come together in times of need. Blessings to you all.

All the best... rest up, enjoy the holidays, and start off 2016 with a bang!

Thanks, Jericho.

I never said that my father doesnt love me. I know he does. 2015 has been a very difficult year for both he and I with different things.

On the subject of my health..

I got a call from my internist out of the clear blue this morning.

She wants me to have an office visit with her, and to have a nice cholesterol test to boot. Joy!

I'm going to wait until Wednesday, to let the bruises heal more.

As for the cholesterol test, I'd had one about.. 2 months ago, where it was very high. I've been trying to watch myself in spite of all the problems I'm having. .

She has told me that she's going to put me on a cholesterol lowering med, if she finds its high again.

A friend of my Dad's, who is a prominent doctor, told me to do everything in my power to take care of the cholesterol myself. My Dad's friend said that cholesterol meds can have major side effects, and this was before they put me on the additional meds for the latest seizures.

I've been trying to do everything possible to watch my cholesterol. I hope that even if it's not perfect, that it went down at least somewhat, so I dont have to go on a cholesterol lowering med.

Best wishes on your recovery and I sincerely hope that you get to the bottom of whatever happened and are able to get it under control.

Holy crap, that was scary, what happened to you. Please keep us posted as to what happens with this. Meanwhile, I'm glad you're in one piece.

Thanks for the concern, kop. I appreciate it.

Happy Holidays to you.

To answer your question, I had a seizure on the morning of Saturday, November 28th, probably from a combination of stress, and perhaps being epileptic.

I was in the hospital for three days, and I'm now just trying to take it easy until after the 1st of the year, at which time I will go back to work.

They put me on anti seizure meds, and a whole bunch of other meds, in addition to the BP meds I've been taking for many years.

I'm feeling better, and havent had any more seizures since. I just feel weak and tired at times.

I will go see a neurologist after the 1st of the year.

Thanks again for your concern, kop.
