I've been very selective about posting personal information, but I felt I wanted to post this.

Since I've shared my seizure episodes/horrors with my friends, and have received support that I;ve appreciated.

I thought I would share what is hopefully the best news I've received about this situation.

As I mentioned in the thread about my latest seizure on September 17th, I finally sought the aid of a neurologist to deal with the problem, and had to wear head and body monitoring gear for 48 hours during the weekend of September 23 to 25.

I met with the neurologist today.

He explained the situation to me, and that my seizures are caused by a combination of neurological/physiological, and psychological factors.

The Dr put me on a very detailed prescription that is supposed to control these factors.

The medicine, is supposed to eliminate the seizures

Additionally, it also has an ingredient to help stablize my mood, and help control anxiety, etc.

I have to see the Dr again in a month, to be checked, and also so he can refill/maybe adjust my medications.

This is the best news I've received since I left Aflac.

Now, after a short break, to make sure that my body adjusts well to the medications, it is back to life, Thank God.

I want to thank all of my friends who have supported me through this terrible ordeal.

The only recurring medical problem I have, is severe pain in my neck and back after the last seizure.

The Dr thinks that is from the fall I suffered when I had the seizure, and he believes it will abate in time.

It is such a relief to know that a medication can control this problem.

I had to laugh. After the Dr met with me to explain everything, he had a conference with my father and I in his outer office, and the Dr said. "Mitch, you just have to follow the medication as directed".

Of course I will. I've been on BP meds since I'm 35, and these anti seizure meds will help me eliminate this terrible problem with the seizures. It;s like, why wouldn't I?

Now I can just exhale, and relax.

Congrats on the news. My dad had epilepsy caused by alcoholism and was on varying levels of dilantin for about 10 years but now he doesnt have seizures anymore and doesnt have to take the meds.

Im sure your case is much different but im glad you were able to find some oeace of mind on the subject.

Thank You, chicago. I appreciate your good wishes.

Glad to hear that your Dad doesn't have seizures anymore.

I am very glad to hear that you have a clear diagnosis and an appropriate prescription, my friend. May the new year be one of very good health for you. 😀

Thank You, ,mils.

I appreciate the good wishes, my friend.

Happy New Year and all the best to you as well.

Good to hear, Mitch. Just keep track of any side effects (even if you don't think it's a side effect), so you can let the doc know at your follow-up visit. Of course, a win for the drug companies, too :sarcasm:.

Thanks, rdhd. I appreciate your good thoughts, my friend.

One edit to this post.. as I was exhausted last night when I wrote out my reply to you.

You mentioned side effects.

The only.. "side effect" I was told I might have, is a rash.

The Dr said if that happens, to call him immediately.

So far, two doses of meds, one yesterday, and one this morning, and no rash.

Hopefully I wont get any side effects.

Glad to here you've received medication that can help dude. Keep us in the loop. 😀

Thanks, ILuvDebonair. I certainly will.

I have to laugh.. Not to get "political" or turn this into the P and R, but just as an indication of the effect the medicine had on my body.

Everyone here who knows me, knows how I love politics.

I had to take my first dose of medication when I got home yesterday afternoon.

Last night, during the Kaine Vs Pence debate, the medicine had made me so relaxed, that I fell asleep, LOL.

I dont know whether it was because the debate was boring, or I was just tired from the med.

I'll be sure to be sitting up in a chair for Hillary V Trump Part Two on Sunday night.

I have epilepsy too... I don't get seizures as frequently as I used to when I was younger.
But it's still between 1-3 a year. My last one was about 7 months ago, in April.

It's hard sometimes, and very scary. . Your not alone. 🙂

I'm sorry that you have epilepsy, Aevirra.

That's good that you dont get the seizures as often as you used to.

Yes, they are very scary.

The weird thing about me is.. the neurologist didn't say to me.

"Mitch, you have epilepsy".

Although I know I probably do.

The Dr just said.
'
"Take the anti seizure meds, every day as directed, and contact me in a month".

So that's what I'm doing, and it does seem to be helping me, with both the seizures, and my mood.

I find I'm much calmer since I'm on the meds.

Hopefully the meds will continue to help.
