where do the smilies come from?

this forum currently has 59 emoticons or 'smilies' as they are known here. but, if you look at the panel to the left of where you type in the message, only 9 or 10 are the same 'style', the rest are different.

does someone draw them or are they supplied by vBulletin? if they are drawn here, why isnt there a tickling one?

stupid post i know, but maybe on of the mods can help.

If you look at the bottom of the box where the initial smilies are, there's a bracket with the words "get more". Clicking on that will take you to the rest of the collection. As for where they originate, I believe that vBulletin has a few set to choose from. But, you can find and upload more to the server for your own board. Then, there area also some that people have in their own ftp space that they link to using the image button.

If you see a smilie you like, all you have to do is right click and hit properties to see where it came from. There ARE a couple of tickling ones that Venraya did floating around...one seen often in BigJim's sig.

I like 'em. I use Emotipad to organize and utilize mine...very reasonably priced piece of stuff found here: http://www.emotipad.com/

There's a LOT of them around, and they spice up emails and such nicely, as well as help me express whatever mood I happen to be floating around in at the moment...

I add smiles to the forum set from time to time when I feel like it. I find them all around the web, and copy those that amuse me to a file that I keep handy for later upload. Only those that I like end up in the set you can access directly off the server.

I do have both that Racey did. Ray very kindly furnished me with them. It was the one with the smiley in the stocks having it's feet tickled that I put in my sig as it seemed really appropriate.

Anyhow...i'm sad to say these folks have misinformed you. I'll show you exactly where smilies come from...the whole sorted truth. This may not be for the squemish.

Well needless to say i think you can figure out the rest. The smilies created then go to a web page where they continue the process. Any standard search engine can track the trickey lil 's down.

Im very sorry... I have had to move all my smilies. There was too much hot-linking occuring that was costing me loooooaaaaads of money in bandwidth.

By all mean download any image and store on your own webspace but dont hot-link direct to the source.
