Which do you like better?

kurchatovium said:
Star Trek. Sorry Dave2112.

Really? I always thought of Star Trek as a "dork show". Maybe I'm wrong about that....I just never got into it.

Now I love Star Wars....it just has more to offer.

Every Star Trek show just seems to be a re-hash of the show before it, with a slightly modified storyline.

Well I like Star Wars as well but I like Star Trek more. There is more science in their science fiction. You are right in the sense that the spin offs are going downhill in quality and often ripoff older themes.

Every Star Trek episode has to do with either The Borg or The Dominion. Is that the extent of their writing?

One could say every Star Wars Episode has to do with the Force or the Dark side. The original Star Trek series and the movies with the original cast did not have the Borg or the Dominion in them. I also love the Q guy. Wish they put him into some of the movies for The Next Generation.

Star Trek (the original series).

The later spinoffs were mostly drek. 🙂

Q?

You called?

Star Trek, btw. Greater statistical probability of actual occurence, and potentially a better universe. Their books have better writers...they should get them for the visual media. Q

Star Wars!
I can't stand William Shattner so I never really got into the Star Trek thing.
:wow:

Yeah, but they should have gotten someone else besides William Shattner Q for the part. That man get's on my reserve nerve! And that takes a lot to do that!😀 Yes, even with cats:wow:

Tell me about it. Shattner is just a self-absorbed prick who's ego is too big for his britches.

Star Wars, hands down.

Star Trek is boring and unrealistic because all the characters seem to do, IMO, is sit around and think/talk about their "feelings." Yuck.

You won't see Han Solo wracked with woebegone recriminations over blasting some galactic scumbag. 😎

OK whats with that Yoda guy. Why out of all the potential aliens they came up with a 3 foot green muppet that sounds like Fozzie Bear I'll never know. Why can he speak straight either. Has he done too much pod racing in his youth, taken a light saber in the noggin a couple times, what gives? My friend has a two year old who speaks better. Heck maybe we should give the kid a light saber and put him in the next sequel.

Star Trek hands down! Atleast in star trek you can see what is happening. In star wars a planet could turn inside out, explanation "the force was used"
"but wait...how.."
"the force"

With the exeption of Wesley Crusher, every character was enjoyable, from data's learning of mankind to rikers constantly banging the new liutenants whom board the ship.

Not every episode was about the dominion or Borg. A lot were yes but thats what made the series more exciting. I was watching DS9 non stop when they began the whole dominion\Jem Hadar plot.

butthead-number 1, i order you to take a number
beavs-heh heh heh heh..aye aye cap'tain

I've never seen an episode of Star Trek. I've seen and enjoyed all of the Star Wars movies. Anxiously awaiting Episode III.

"After the Star Trek Wars..."
"You mean the mass migration of hundreds of Star Wars fans?"
"No, that was the Star Wars Trek."

Well, one could say that "Q" had the force as well, being able to shift the space-time continuium, and all.

I wouldn't say that. Episode 2 sucked, big time. The only thing that saved it, was watching Yoda jump all over the screen in the light-sabre battle, then after the battle, he just hobbled away, using his cane.

yeah but snapping your fingers to do it was cool. I never saw skywalker whip out a mariatchi band and have em play in his X-wing

I like both, actually. However, I have to say that Star Trek leads by a hair.

On the heartfelt level, Star Wars has that whole "Good v/s Evil" thing going on which is great, but it leaves out the reality of the greys in the middle which Star Trek seems to like. And I like 'em too.

Acting? Well, Shattner versus the boy wonder Annikan. 🙄 Hmm, then there is Wesley versus the time honored Oscar rated performances of Chewbaca. There are valid arguments on this level. Acting-wise, they both suck equally. 😀

As far as the visual, I think the last Star Trek movie far outdid the last Star Wars movie on the big screen. The DETAIL in Star Trek is what I like. One of the reasons I like sci fi is the fun of saying, "Hmm,wonder when we'll get to do that." The wya they present the techno-geek aspects make it feel real. Star Wars feels like I'm watching a romance novel in space. Star Wars falls more in the fantasy categroy of "That's a cool story. Look at that lightsaber fight. Wow!" I don't mean to sound insulting because I actually liked the first three Star Wars films!

I can take or leave ST tv shows depending on my mood.

I bought the origianl SW trilogy.

I slept through most of the last two SW films. Didn't like 'em that much. Someone is trying harder to make a buck, than to make a good movie there. I don't know that I'll ever recover from Jar Jar or the wonderboy. They took the level of Star Wars down a notch for me.

Star Wars and Star Trek both have their good qualities, interesting characters and awesome story lines.
I'm a big Capt. Kirk fan cause he's so over the top, Capt. Picard was much more intelligent but could easily kick ass just as well.
In the last 2 months, Ann and I revisted all 3 of the original Star Wars movies and also saw the 2 newer ones. The 3 originals are all awesome, kinda had a problem with Empire when I originally saw it cause they made you wait for Jedi. But I still think the 25 minutes or so in Jedi when Luke confronts Jabba and wipes out all his forces, ranks as one of the greatest Sci-Fi sequences of all time! (I'm all ready for the onslaught of backlash🙄 )
I liked Phantom Menance, much better than I thought. I didn't like Jar Jar Binks, and had a real problem with young Anikin. On the other hand, I thought Attack of the Clones was absolutely stupendous!!

Exactly my point..that was sarcasm I used my friend😉
