If you were a fictional character, who would you be? And why? I suspect this forum is replete with latter-day Hamlets and Scarletts and Don Quixotes, Wonder Women and Tom Sawyers. If you're more than one, that's okay. I, myself, have the heart of Popeye and the motor skills of Elmer Fudd. (I also have a more serious answer to my own question, which I'll post later in the thread.)

Hmmm, I'd have to say a cross between ohhh Bugs Bunny and the Tazmanian Devil. The wit can be quick, but sometimes ya just wanna buzz through things with that flip of the lid temper of his. I am independent, contrary and acerbic, with very modest literary gifts. Not disfigured, but comical to look at. Bursting with love but too proud to beg. Honest to a fault, to the point of rudeness at times. Who could I be but the poor man's Cyrano de Bergerac? (I know Cyrano is not a fictional character, but it is his fictionalized representation in Rostand's play that inspires and encapsules me, not the obscure historical figure.)

Those who know me might be more inclined to liken me to Bottom, the ass-headed rube from "A Midsummer Night's Dream," or, at best, Don Quixote, an old fool trying his damnedest but repeatedly falling on his butt.
