Bugger............

Well I was limited to those characters I could reember. And seeing as how most Americans won't have a clue as to who Dennis The Menace and Desperate Dan are, I was a bit strapped. I've heard of Daredevil Ray, but didn't think of him. The others you mentioned I never even heard of.

Oh well, I'll have to think of something I know more about, to put in my next poll.:zzzzz:

Mark me down as another "None of the above." Now if you'd included Doc Savage, Simon Archard, the Flash, Groo the Wanderer, Kevin Matchstick, Concrete, the Dirty Pair, Shang-Chi, Barry Ween, Hunter Rose, the Post Bros, Mr. Miracle, Crazy Jane, the Knights of the Dinner Table, Elric, Stinz, Grimjack, Yusaku Godai, Omaha, Quasar, Shade the Changing Man, Tom Strong, or John DiFool, maybe I could've voted.

Ah, so they were the names of the Mystery Men we never got to hear about! LOL

my fav wasn't on the list either

there was sgt. fury, and his howling commandos!
connan the barbarian had a comic book form of the novels.
too many others to list (actually i just can't remember their names, lol).

Darkwing Duck....

Ok... please do not laugh at me, but I had a crush on him.... really! LOL

You can ask my lil' sister... and those of you who went to PRE-NEST met her! I was like 11 or 12. Maybe 10. I didn't even tell anybody and one day she busted me out in front of all my friends.

Man... I would sprint to the TV for that cartoon.
Plus he was always tickling somebody or being tickled.... sigh...

LET'S GET DANGEROUS!

I liked DangerMouse too.

Oh Darkwing! SIGH

DON'T TEASE ME! heehee

Live, Laugh and TICKLE

Carebears were cool too.... heehee You never said only superheroes.. heehee

Well.....

I don't suppose anyone else (perhaps Myriads) remembers the world...err...area ...famous "Chlorophyll Kid" from the Legion of Substitute Heroes? He did a LOT with what little he had, and his attitude was perfect for being a role model for a developing adolescent! Q

I'll vote for Danger Mouse. Scene: DM and sidekick Pinfold are riding woodpeckers. PF's bird starts to lose altitude. DM says "Pinfold! Keep your pecker up!"

Second choice: Wile E. Coyote.

Strelnikov

I'm with Shem on the Knights of the Dinner Table.

Batman was my fav out of those, however I'd add the late, and apparantly unlamented but me, Thunderstrike, Nightwing, Justice Society of America, and the Avengers and X-Men of the early to mid-80's.

Smiley 😀 ,
comic book aficianado

Mad props to Shem for mentioning Simon Archard, Tom Strong, Barry Ween, and the Knights of the Dinner Table!

And of course I remember Chlorophyll Kid, Q, along with other Subs like Stone Boy and Infectious Lass...

I'd have to vote for Batman from the list in the poll, but I'd have to add Spider-Man to it as well. It's their flawed and fallible personalities that make them so compelling. Superman, Captain Marvel (The Golden Age one who said "Shazam!", not the Earthbound Kree or his successors), and most of their imitators who do the superhero thing out of a sense of duty are generally to perfect and tend to bore me. Bats and Spidey are motivated by obsession and guilt ("I must make sure that nobody else ever has to suffer the same loss I did...") which makes them more human. You never get the feeling that Superman can be overmatched, while Bruce and Peter take on overwhelming odds and beat them on a daily basis.

Others from my list o' faves, in order of finding them while thumbing through the latest Previews:
Vilmar "Villie" Grarkh from Dark Horse's Star Wars: Republic
The Joker, Two-Face, and Mister Freeze from DC's Batman
Go-Go Fiasco from DC/Vertigo's Codename: Knockout!
John Constantine from DC/Vetigo's Hellblazer
Jesse Custer, Cassidy the Irish Vampire, and the Saint of Killers from DC/Vertigo's Preacher
Spider Jerusalem from DC/Vertigo's Transmetropolitan
The Midnighter from DC/WildStorm's The Authority
Mister Pharmacist from DC/WildStorm's The Establishment
Officer Joe Pi of DC/WildStorm/America's Best Comics' Top Ten
The Beast, Colossus, and Iceman from Marvel's X-Men
Captain America and Iron Man of Marvel
Renensco P. Blue from Amaze Ink/Slave Labor Graphics' Hectic Planet
Exeter of CrossGen's Scion
Arwyn and Gareth of CrossGen's Sojourn
Po Po of CrossGen's The Way of the Rat
The entire cast of Dork Storm's Dork Tower
Nodwick of DorkStorm's Nodwick
Barbara the Barbarian and Father Shambles of Kenzer & Co.'s Tony DiGerolamo's Travelers

Jim has shown an interest in my favorite character.

I've thought about it for a few days. And I honestly don't have a solid answer.

I read A LOT of comics. It's my job after all. So I tend to like books as opposed to characters.

But in the spirit of the question, lets step back in time and review some of my younger likes.

The first hero that I liked deeply was the Barry Allen Flash. That sharp silver age costume looked cool to the 5 year old me. I loved the wings...

As I was exposed to more characters, I liked the Metal Men (thought they were super cool, Mercury was my favorite) and later the Justice Society. (The E2 Flash, Hourman, and Mr Terrific leading the pack)

And then for some reason I gained a deep affection for the Earth Three Villains, The Crime Syndicate. They remained my favorites for as long as I can remember still having specific favorites. So I guess they are still closest to my heart. Yes they were just evil-twin versions of the JLA big guns, but I thought they were the coolest... and still like 'em. I still miss Earth-3 (and all the rest too. 🙂

There you go.

Myriads

since this thred has dissolved to "name" your fav. "superhero" to "list" your favorite "superheroes", I may as well jump on and add my two cents

Here they are in no particular order (except the first):

Batman
Spiderman
Gambit
Spawn
Nightwing
Green Lantern
Ironman
Freakazoid🙄
the Green Power Ranger(lol)
Daimyo Piccolo(magna's comics too)
about four dozen others....

...and of course....myself(the great Gundam Deathscythe)

P.S. I think I post a similar topic, only with super villians.....I'd love to see the results of that post
