Serious topic, this is my lifestyle

I dont drink water, only fluid i intake is soda and beer
I dont eat vegetables
I dont eat fruit regularly
I am medically obese so to speak
When i was little i pretty much ate Burger king every day
I am partially lactose intollerant so i couldnt be given milk when i was a baby

So since my body is deprived of such vital nutrients of life and my body is functioning off caffine(which i never got a buzz off of, i can seriously drink a can before goin bed and sleep normal)
How am i still alive?

I ask myself the same question on a daily basis. My diet isn't the same as yours, and I'm kinda on the average side body type wise, but I smoke like a chimney, and drink like a fish, so at the half century mark I have to ask myself, is it all that clean livin' partying that keeps me from keeling over? 😀

Also, yes im overweight but im tech in the best shape of my life, im stronger than i ever have in my life, and i do work out more than occasional

I forgot to add, a.t.m. I'm dining exquisitely on Pringles and cheese, late night breakfast of champions! I'm sure I'll regret this later, but right now I've got a most serious case of the "munchies"!

My guess without looking into this with research, is that your bodies have accustomed themselves to this lifestyle no matter how unhealthy it is. Your bodies may very well have become immune to the rot you've subjected them to. What could poison another person or make them ill has no effect on either of you (its like developing an immunity to poisons by ingesting them, like some animals do), because your blood stream, etc., has been altered as a means of self-preservation. The body finds a way, but its a gamble whether or not it can hold up. Though you have paid the price, and may never be completely healthy again or at your full physical peak or potential. And to try and reverse the process of what you've done could actually make it worse if its not done correctly, depending on how bad it is, since your bodies and systems have conformed to exist to the way you treat them. Changing anything could throw them out of the balance they've created and cause any number of complications. In a weakened state, natural balance would be your enemy because you've no way to cope with it. Its like giving a person who can only ingest liquids something solid. Their bodies will reject it and they'll be sick. This is like a person who hasn't exercised in many years being forced to run laps and exert large ammounts of stamina and energy. To be even more accurate, its like giving a blood transfusion with the wrong blood type or transplanting a vital organ only to have it rejected.

Your bodies have sort of hit an equalibrium though with the damage you have done to them-- they agree to not shut down yet, but don't regenerate like they're supposed to. They trade better health and regeneration for lesser health and more resistance to particular adnormalities.

In the end though, your bodies are trying to heal themselves. Thats the wonder and awe of the human body. It has it's way of restoring balance, fighting illness, and compensating. But it can't do it without your help.

But see, there is no catastrophic failure apparent.

I mean i can go without caffine any time, i just like the taste, but i dont degenerate or feel worse if i dont have any. It isnt a concept of body needs, yes id say my body is now immune to caffine but i exist without it too.

Granted im more than likely headed to a shorter future with diabetes(its also in my family) thyroid issues and heart issues, i mean granted im not the healthiest but im not the poorest if health either. I have fairly decent stamina and a larger power range. Its kinda the same aspect of a body builder(no im not one), though they are strong, they are in bad health due to their size.

So like smoking, long term i am affecting myself, but regardless, there is the emphasis of like 8-12 glasses a water a day, eat veggies when yer a kid, no salty foods, etc etc. Yes id like to be in better shape, hence why i do workout but this whole issue has just been odd to me. Your body needs water, in theory, soda should dehydrate you more since its caffine and sugar.

Hahaha my roomie has a fast metabolism and he eats more than me and i am quite literally double his weight, i said give me a month, eat and drink only what i tell u do and i can beef him up...lol

Your age, vitality, and any number of things are responsible for you not feeling the effects. But remember, just because you don't feel sick doesn't mean you aren't. Alot of people, too many people in fact, assume they are fine just because nothing has given away or broken down. The human body is strong. It can withstand tremendous stress, pressure and pain, especially during youth and in one's prime. But one thing it cannot stand is prolonged, internal sickness.

As I said, your body has adjusted to this unhealthy lifestyle. And as such, you don't physically feel the ramfications of that. But you are no the more stronger or heathier for it. Your body is essentially running on stored energy and working overtime to keep stability. This is what makes disease so simple to infect a host. If your systems are too taxed, disease is more likely. If your systems aren't developed enough or are weak, that same disease gets in and has it's way.

Eventually, if this goes on for the entire cycle of a person's lifetime, the abnormalities penetrate your very genes. And its for reasons like this that disease is and can be passed down to children. I'm not telling you something you don't already know, but you are asking. Unless of course it was a rhetorical question.

This is all whats so scary about disease. You don't necessarily feel it until it's culminated to the point of outbreak. Its there naturally, but benign, or its introduced later. Its like a ticking time bomb. This is why taking care of yourself early on is so important. You eliminate or reduce the chance of sickness. And the danger is in far too many children not being taken care of properly and then when they're teens shrugging proper health because they bounce back all the time from sickness. Or when people refuse to take vitamins or essential nutrients because they feel they don't need them (or they're indifferent), when their body is crying for it.

Its that kind of mentality and irresponsibility which break down genetics, weakens them, changes them, and perpetuates disease and disorder.

We're spawning societies dependant on drugs to maintain health, when thats something the body can/could do for free if we'd just help it. The damage is so great that generations are feeling the pinch. It doesn't have to be that way.

I like to go to sleep with the radio on. Last night I was listening to a talk show on a Boston station. Now, AM radio advertising is only half a notch above those Victorian-era ads for snake oil. So I was kind of skeptical when some clinic or other advertised a one-hour ultrasound (?) scan to screen for stroke or heart disease ("Sometimes the only sign of a stroke is a stroke!"). It was $125.00 (they didn't say if insurance would cover it). I was very tempted, but for the fact that I live two states away. Boy, these AM radio advertisers sure know how to advertise to their aging boomer audience do they not?

My diet sucks too. I've managed to cut out most white sugar. I've been a cheese junkie since I was that high, but I've largely dropped that (ah, pizza, how I miss you!). I'm careful about what kinds of fascist food I eat (ever stop to think that the menus of these places would be BLANK if you got rid of all the red meat and fried shit?). "Exercise" is a 4-letter word to me, though I glom vitamins and omega-3 capsules daily. Am I in more danger from my sedentary lifestyle or from worrying about dropping dead from a heart attack as I walk down Main Street?

When the weather turns cooler I get out and move around much more, i.e. do more in the yard, walk my dog more ... but largely, my lack of motivation is currently the stifling summer heat where I live. Even though I was out in it yesterday morning trimming some tree's, the temps quickly rose toward the century mark, I was soaked ... I called it a day ... until about 6:30p, only to pick up the trimmings which littered the yard before NCIS came on, and it was STILL bloody hot outside.

My current lifestyle as far as going out (every night, usually late, no sooner than 10p) so much is concerned is because that is really the only social outlet I have, and that is where the only people I can even remotely call friends are. I've been going to the same place for some years now, and even though they come and go, there still remains enough consistency for me too still enjoy myself there.

I feel kinda like this as well, occasionally. I'm 5'10", 220lbs (or thereabouts), and my doctor has diagnosed me as medically obese (though I feel that's a slight overexaggeration).
I don't drink coffee, but most of my fluid intake is of the cola variety (Coke, Pepsi, Irn Bru, Tango, etc;...), I have a large intake of fats and have snacks between my in-between-meal snacks. I sleep, on average, about 8-9 hours a day (going to bed at about 2am - work starts at noon/1pm usually), and never exercise.
My body doesn't seem to use stored energy at all - if I don't eat, I don't just get hungry, I become cold, weak and tired in a matter of hours. And the bags under my eyes have been there so long that I can't remember a time when they weren't (plus they look like someone has punched me in both eyes). And finally, I've become acclimatised to the sensation of heartburn.

Finally though, at least DeathClock.com says that I should live until May 18, 2054 (72 years old). O well, not too bad considering a BMI of 33. 🙂

I used to have hyperthyroidism; That means my thyroid (which controls your hormones) overworked, and that increased by bloodpressure, made me sleepy, given me constant diaria, (sorry, dunno how to spell that), and thanx to all that, it made me HUNGRY! After the medication helped, I had to force my body to eat less, or I would gain 4 pounds a week! (like I found out🙄 ) So, now I'm used to eat.....ok, I mean I could use some pounds of vegies and fruits, but I'm kind of ok.

Repeating what Vlad had said, your body kind of got used to your way of life, and you might have some problems in the future. If you force yourself like I did to eat....better, not perfect, but better, then you can avoid those problems, and loose some pounds in the process. (I ended up loosing 12 pounds, and I havent gained it back either:happy: ) that was more like an advice, what I'm saying is no matter how great you are feeling now, sooner or later you will have problems, and that would be a good way to avoid those problems. 😉

Spelling: diarrhoea (Where phonetics breaks down - and who the fudge made the word "Phonetics" with a PH?! 😛)

hungarian, if yer hyperthyroidic(which im destined to be hyper or hypo) doesnt that also mean yer metabolism is going at an extreme rate as well, meaning you can eat something and it will pass thru u very quickly\not metabolized into fat storage

Well, you know its interesting... I cycle to Uni everyday, i train in tae kwon do three times a week, and i work out on top of that; i eat fruit and veg, I drink lots of water, i dont drink soda/sugary drinks, i dont eat burger kings or mcdonalds...
And yet, i've spent 12 months of the past few years impaired by/recovering from injury. I mean i guess finding a balance is the key...

Yes, too much of anything really is bad for you, as is too little, a medium is always best. Also the majority of the time it is down to your age as well as your lifestyle, the older you get the more apparent the way you are treating your body will become. This usually happens around about 50 I would say, though in your mid 40's you might get some early warning signs. For alot of people though they can be really unlucky with their health and constantly suffer, while for others they can be seemingly immune to their unhealthy lifestyle.

When I graduated medschool, I was reminded by an old doctor friend of mine about the idiosyncrasies of health maintenance and sustenance. Take for example, the 80 yo man who's had no past medical problems, who decides to see a a doctor for the first time in a loooong time. He says all he eats is red meat, drinks scotch every evening, and smokes a cigar as he's done for the past 50 years. The doctor of course, urges the patient to adopt a "healthier diet" chock full of fresh vegetables, fish, chicken, etc and to lay off the booze and snuff; which he begrudgingly does. Sure nuff, the man keels over and dies in the next month. Go figure.

I just realized a scary thought. In about another fifty or so years of internet forum posting there will be threads that outlive people.

{Old man hobbling on cane staring at a futuristic computer panel}

"Yeah *cough* I remember when I started that thread back in '04'. Who'd a thought *hack* that it would still be alive and well in good ole 2084! Ah, I remember I was 20 and back in college starting that thread. *Laughs then starts hacking again* Remember when we used to type on keyboards!"

The human body can take a whole lot of torture before it breaks. You may be fine now, but later you are going to feel the effects big time.
