steph said:Yep. Because it jazzes them up, right?
And about the shaking hands, I have one word for you my dear:
GIRLFRIENDS!
And on a non-related note, I think you are WAY too hard on yourself~we gotta work on that!
XOXO

I don't remember a time when I didn't paint them. And my toes are painted fire engine red 24/7.

Well, they differ in degree, certainly. But I think the goals are much the same. I used that analogy because the answer to Metsfan's question (that women paint their toes to make them look prettier) seemed obvious (to me). But it wasn't obvious to Mets. So by way of emphasis I pointed out that people have done far stranger things with the same goal. I could have used the fact that women in Elizabethan times used arsenic to whiten their skin - that's even worse. 😉LindyHopper said:Redmage - I'd hardly liken pedicures to using belladonna.
But why, do you suppose? Is it something inherent in coloring your nails, or is it because you know that it makes them prettier and more eye-catching? (I can confirm that it does do that, by the way. )And while I admit that I'd be less likely to paint my toenails during times that I think no one will see them, I also do it because it's cheery for me.
I've told her. I've told her. Tell her again. 🙂steph said:Thanks all~I think ticklishlurker seems like a lovely gal~you must learn to embrace your inner Goddess, hon!

TicklishLurker said:I'm very fat and see myself as disgustingly ugly. I often do not understand what the men here see in me especially when they call me "cute." Having my nails painted makes me feel pretty for however long it lasts. It gives me a much needed self esteem boost.

(Come on, someone around here MUST get the Die Hard reference.)
Talk about toe nail polish! Not me!
You know, when I first saw the title of this thread, I thought it was a question about why girlfriends sometimes like to paint their boyfriend's toenails.
