Why do you say goodbye(or, erase me) from the forum?

Why do people say farewell to a message board? Is it for the attention that they were (are) neglected? Is it because of the online chatroom?

I am just wondering... Seriously...

It's obviously an attention thing. They either think that people care, or want them to.

I don't know why people have the need to announce their departure but it is what it is.

I've come and gone and come back again without any goodbyes. I either got busy, or involved in family matters, or just needed some time off. I think that's healthy especially at my age (and no, I ain't telling just yet....🙂 ).

Everyone has their reasons even though you have a percentage of attention drama queens who create a lot of chaos then want to run and cry on their way out.

Just my opinion......I might be wrong, but I don't think so.

I did a long time ago to see if people cared.

They didn't. Then I didn't harder and trolled everybody so they cared even less.

Needless to say, I'm still here. 🙂

For some people this is their only way of socializing. What some don't realize is that there are people behind every screen and what words you put on the forum reflects your personality to everyone. So if you are chased away...there probably is a reason. Ive been here for a long time on and off and the only time I left was because I was frustrated with the lack of opportunities provided for my tickling interest. Coming on the forum is too much of a tease..so I take a break to the vanilla world again. In the beginning I did annouce it but now I know I have come to terms with it and just enjoy the forum for what it is for me right now. I place I can discuss my interests---tickling or otherwise.

I think they do it for attention. I did that once when I was pissed at someone, or some people, who were sniping at me. Then I realized that if there really was/is a problem with someone, I'm better off putting them on ignore, or discussing it with the mods privately.

In all likelihood, I'm not going to ever leave. I have too many friends here who supported me during the worst time of my life. I think that leaving would be almost like slapping them in the face. If problems would arise,. I'll ignore the people I'm having the problems with, and /or discuss it with the mods.

A little over a decade ago, I was present when an actress auditioned for a play about life in an internet chat room. Her audition consisted of a portion of the first scene of the play, when her character had the line "Just came to say good-bye to everybody," explaining that she was leaving the chat community. The actress, seeing that line, asked whether she had come all this way to read for a character who is only in the first scene. The director assured her: no, she's in lots of scenes throughout the play, and each time she shows up, it's to give one last good-bye to everyone.
