Why don't YOU go to gatherings?

Right - we run the London T-Parties, a discreet pub social gathering for tickle-fans (more details here). We generally post details about it on all the main Tickle forums well in advance and we hold them on Saturday evenings. As everyone chats and socialises, at some point the topic of "why are there only 15 of us here?" raises it's head. Several theories are tossed around:

"Too far for some people...
Some people are too shy...
Some people want to keep it in the bedroom...
Some will only turn up if "action" is on the menu...
Some people won't go any further than the internet...
Maybe they think they'll have a thousand fingers pointing at them as they walk down the road with people shouting,
'There s/he goes, off to the tickle fetish party!!!'"

(we should categorically state that the last one hasn't yet happened at the London event)

We simply don't know, but it leads us to ask: Why don't you go to any gatherings...?

We want to emphasise that this isn't a question posed so that anyone can be judgemental about the answers and we aren't really asking it with the promise that we will change anything about the gatherings we organise - we haven't yet been disappointed with people who have attended the London T-Parties and numbers have been fair at every one so far.

But with the amount of people all over the boards who state something like, "Come on! Let's do something!", the fact that we're doing it, and only about 15 people turn up per gathering............ :umm:

Are there really only around 25 people in the vicinity of the 18-million-strong capital who are tickle-enthusiasts?

We've had enough theories - can anyone give us an answer?

Personally I believe it's a little bit of all those reasons. :S

I, myself, can't go for various other reasons. The main one being my health. >.<

Due to my lung issues recently, I haven't been able to set foot into certain environments, too uncomfortable. Plus I have other plans. ^^

Right now, I'm a student and have very little time and money, two important variables. I'd love to go...but my studies keep me put. Plus, as comfortable as I might be with it, I don't know how truly comfy my ler would be. She's not as into the scene as I am, and I think I'd need to take her to a few fetish parties locally before going to one specifically centered around my personal tastes...

Regardless, I have intentions of going to gatherings in the future, when I have the funds and the availability...I'm DYING to go to one!!!

oh I plan to get to one at some point, but I dont have the means right now, but I am hell bent. Id love to meet people into tickling and I have reason to believe that I am a pretty good tickler. But those are all valid reasons, but in truth, ya cant let ot hold ya back forever. If anyone is brave enough to take me on, ill do an entire sketch right on your foot XD lol kididng, but I am the playfull type as some of u know and Im willing to bet it would be a lot of fun.

I think it'd be groovy to go to anything, from a small munch like the sort Snail Shell has been hosting, to a bigger bash, like the annual N.E.S.T. event, or something like a Passive Arts pay-for-play party. My biggest problems are financial and location. Thus, for me, it's the occassional tickle in with some cutie at work, or visiting places like here. :redface:

Maybe the key is to have them often enough that people can pick a date to come. Some years ago, I went to several gatherings in the midwest US where I met quite a few people of varying race, economic status and level of interest. Despite whatever issues they faced, they all made it there. And it was fun, talking about our favorite fetish. I never stuck around long enough for 'live demos' as one host called it; maybe a schedule of the evening is needed too, so that people know what to expect.

Nowadays, I have a job where half the time, I don't own my weekends. Count it as another excuse if you will. But I think timing is key, whether the gathering is in London or elsewhere; people just have to manage their time, ya know? Just an idea or two.

My main reason: Murphy's Law. So far, every time there's been a "munch" (nice name for such a function, BTW!), I've had pressing business in places which are located in the direction opposite from the location of said munch.

Reason number 2: Windshield time. I wish ticklephile functions weren't all in distant major cities, as they all seem to be.

Unfortunately for me, even if I could find the time and money, going anywhere public would endanger my livelihood as my job is reasonable high profile and not enough of the right people would accept my personal choices. So at least for now, I'm "in the closet" about my fetish.

Before, it was a)my health issues--sure there are people like the ones here there...and then there are the creeps--and I don't want to get pwn3d when I'm unwilling. I'm seriously against noncon. Big news, eh?😛

Reason number 2 is, of course, both money and travel. I live on the Eastern Seaboard yeah, but I don't even have my own car right now😛

My new number one reason, however, is the fact that I have a fiance who's into it and me and I simply don't need to anymore ^___^

I haven't gone, mainly because of the costs of flying, hotel, renting a car, and there's still no gaurentee I'll get to play. Other situations like this I've gone to, the male / female ratio is overwhelmingly male, causing them to be more aggressive and competative. So there's that fear of making the investment, and winding up in my hotel room alone when it's all said and done.
There's a few fetish providers here I can tickle, and that's been healthy. The tickling convention would be nice, if I knew my chances of play were good.
