Many times, one of my favorite teams is in, and I spend the time between the Championship games and the SB in complete worry over them winning. Many times, a team I hate is in (or both) and I feel like I'm wasting my time.
This year, however, I'm right down the middle. Rams and Patriots. I don't love either team, and I don't dislike either team. I love games like this, where I can sit back, watch the game, and not care who wins.
I think this one might be closer than some people would give the Pats credit for. I mean... a 14 1/2 point spread??? I'm not going into one team's advantages over the other, as that would defeat the point of this thread. I just think it will be a good game. I had a gut feeling about Baltimore half-way through last season, and I have that same feeling about the Pats this year. Of course, being at a tickling gathering during the game will probably bolster my appreciation for it...he he he
Anyway, no matter who you root for, let's take a moment to remember that we get to live in this country and watch the greatest sport play its greatest game. Super Bowl Sunday is more of a national holiday these days. Especially this year, when we can all be thankful that "those people" didn't take it away from us. It's almost fitting that the "Patriots" are in the game this year. Maybe it's destiny, who knows?
This is what I love about football, and the playoffs in particular. You don't have to stay up until 1 am for five or seven nights to see who wins. Two teams. One game. One goes home. One wins.
Another is the parity that exists in Pro Football and perhaps no other sport. At the beginning of the season, any team has the potential to make it all the way. How many times have we seen a team start lousy and wind up in the playoffs? Hell, this year we did! "Any Given Sunday" my friends. Anything can happen.
So this Sunday, even if you don't like either team, let's all hoist a beer and toast the greatest event in Professional Sports...The Super Bowl, brought to you by America!
Ok, I'm done.😎
