I can tickle myself a little bit, usually when I'm tired, just on my ribs and sides, soles, tighs, but if i'm awake and alert I can't at all

Great find, I can tickle myself on my feet, but it tickles harder when my girlfriend does it fore sure. Thanks for sharing.

Hm... I heard another area f the brain was activated during tickling, but both proved the same anticipatory "non-tickling" reactions.
Also explains more about why/how schizophrenics actually can tickle themselves, as they have difficulties separating reality from dreams (so they may envision one of their 'mental voices' as the person tickling them, even when it's their own hand performing the motions). Not a guarantee, but a possibility.
I'm also unsure about the different tickle sensations: gargalesis and knismesis.

All I can say is I'M able to do it to myself, because I do it all the time; have been for several years now. I've never had a tickle partner, but not by choice...I guess I've always been too shy to reach out. So maybe after years of practice I learned to get pretty good at it, maybe that's what it is. If you isolate yourself like I tend to do, ANYTHING is possible....
