Widespread downloading problems

Hi all. As the title indicates, more and more people are having problems getting at clips. This is especially true in yahoo!groups, including mine. Note that this is not the "daily file transfer limit exceeded" message that we all know and live; it's a 403 forbidden (unauthorized access) message. I often see it on Rocking's page as well.

I'm not sure what this portends. Has the "new" error message for too much bandwith simply been replaced by a 403? Is it a series of isolated incidents? Or is it something new that we need to be aware of? I have no answers, just these questions. Do the mods or anyone internet savvy have any ideas on what's going on?

I've come across this a few times myself. Most of the time, I'm able to get to things when I check back a few minutes later. I'm not sure, but suspect it may just be a system hiccup.

I suspect their script that handles the redirects on over-bandwidth sites is just returning a default 403 rather than their typical designated error page.
