Assange will either go down for rape and will subsequently disappear for ever "still serving his sentence". Or the governments/organisations/which ever people that are a teeny bit cheesed off with him, shall wait till he is out of the lime light and then shut down all his assets and make him homeless/ slash take him out for good.

I agree he has done some damage to the credit of some people, and that in ways he has also revealed things that may have been right to reveal. But again, agreeing with what some ppl have said, shy not reveal wat all countries are doing behind closed doors? If he can get info like that out of the US etc he must be able to get it out of other countries, so he should keep the perspective broad.

but u never know.. he may just be fine after all this 😛

Well, that's what happens when you can't scare anyone anymore. See, Bird and Swine Flus were scary until word got out that they weren't actually any more deadly than the common flu. When they couldn't get people to tune in out of fear, they stopped reporting on it. But I agree, it'd be great if there was an outlet for follow up news.

And here we are, several months later, and not so much as a peep as to how things are playing out with this whole drama. Agree or disagree with Assange and his methods, it's a teensy bit frightening how the powers that be can cull up some trumped up charge against someone in order to silence them.

Having seen interviews with Assange's friends talking about him, I've little doubt that he actually is guilty. The guy's a sociopath who sees women as being subhuman playthings. It's really disturbing. The guy is a nut.

The whole "it's made up by 'the Man' to smear his name" theory doesn't hold water. It's simply caused more awareness of what Wikileaks is and made everyone think that it's a set up. It hasn't silenced Assange or his partners. It's made heroes out of them. Now they could publish anything they want on Wikileaks and people will blindly believe them.

It'd still be nice if they'd update us a bit on the whole affair. Last I heard(months ago), he'd been extradited to somewhere to await trail on an outstanding rape charge? What's happened in the interim? Any new developments? Trial date set? Trial in progress? Trial over/verdict reached? Penalty phase? Anything?

Assange is still out on bail in the UK, according to a news article from today's Sydney Morning Herald which reports that he just received the Sydney Peace Medal.

Yeah, it would be nice to get an update. As Mistress Valerie says, he's still in the UK AFAIK. I think he's putting together his appeal.
