I finished writing a novel not so long ago, and i finally got around to sending the first pitch letter to an agent earlier this week. Maybe I'll get lucky and actually hear back...
Any writers among us who've taken a similar plunge? I'm always looking to chat it up with fellow writers.

Well, I'm not a writer, but good luck on your novel, eXecutioner! What's it about? Who knows, it might get published. 🙂

Thanks, AMK. I hope it gets published... that's the goal, anyway.
As for what it's about... that's a tough one. The best way to describe it is to use part of the letter...

Set in a future America where guns are illegal, a shrewd and oppressive king reigns supreme, and a giant Plexiglas “bubble” protects the country from deadly acid rain and pollution, the story follows the exploits of a young man named Charlie, an alcoholic with no past, no direction in life, and by all accounts, no future. After a pair of chance meetings with a mysterious and dangerous bounty hunter known only as “the Tattooed Man,” Charlie finds himself in New York City, where the onset of painful and curious flashbacks are only the beginning of his problems.
Following a failed attempt to assassinate the king, the pair find themselves on the run, hoping to escape a walking, talking horror called Bane, who serves as the general of the king’s military. Bane has his own agenda, however, and Charlie, with his newly-discovered ability to resurrect the dead, is only in the way. A deadly game of cat-and-mouse ensues, and in the course of their travels, Charlie and the Tattooed Man find themselves swept up in a revolution, fighting for the freedom of the American people. In the end, a confrontation between Charlie and Bane is imminent, and the friendship between Charlie and the Tattooed Man will be put to the test when it is discovered that only a union of Charlie’s power and the hunter’s skill with a blade will be enough to stop Bane’s terrible plans.

Hope that's not too long... it ain't easy to compress 450 pages into two paragraphs. :shake: still havin' nightmares about that...

Aside from tickle tales, I haven't done a lot. But, I did write and self-publish an e-book a few years back. It was a prayer book for those who are abuse survivors. In the 3 months that I had it readily available online as a free download, we had over 4,000 people grab it. I think it's still available in the DL library of one of the Catholic Community web sites. But, I'm not sure, since I haven't checked it myself in a while. (If anyone's interested, I'd be glad to share it.)

I also have a mystery that I pull out and work on occassionally. I'm not sure if I'll ever finish it or what I'll do with it if that happens. It's more something to play with at this point and not a serious literary effort.

Good luck with your own efforts, eXecutioner! It can be frustrating and stressful to break into the field. But, it'll be worth it. I know there are at least two people here who have or are in the process of trying to get published. Hopefully, they'll respond.

Good Luck!!!

I have been working on a book for some time and am about to actually put it into format and get it all finished. All I have now are all the notes and rough drafts. Then I will be doing what you are.

450 pages... man... I can only communicate ideas in 2 paragraphs! It's almost impossible for me to write anything longer, so I'm totally impressed. Good luck 😀

Luck and more...

I remember that one...a few of us were "testing" a chapter out for you a while ago. Getting a story published is tough work in itself, never mind all the creative angst that came previously! All the best luck to you, and if it came out as well as that bit I read I'll be looking forward to seeing the completed version...in paperback of course...lol. Q

I hope one day to have a book or two published. I have always loved to write and in school, my teachers and professors always said I had good writing abilities. But, for now, I will wish you luck!!!

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I'm still waiting (impatiently) for a response, but I'll keep you all posted.

Have you read Stephen King's book, 'On Writing'? He talks a lot about how to contact publishers and what to do to make your manuscript noticed. Just a thought...

Good luck! You are truly living the dream for all of us frustrated writers. (Maybe I'll be inspired to work on one of my book ideas now, God willing.)

Hope you get that check!
