I think it's unfair to lose the awesomeness of NEST just because of competition, and an idea struck. What if we, the members of TMF, the NESTees, carry on the legacy with our OWN gathering?

Now, I noticed that LeeAllure and MaxSpeer were clever with their words...this year will be the last " public " NEST...which leads me to speculate that maybe a significantly more private version will be held in place of the current NEST. I don't wish to intrude upon the awesomeness of NEST and it's founders, but I would like to hold a very similar gathering in Baltimore, Maryland starting next spring.

So while I surf the interwebz to research where we could possibly hold this at, I ask of you fellow NESTees, spring forward ideas and opinions unto mine thread! And maybe if we are lucky, Lee and Max can give their nod of approval, or adversely, disapproval, at the idea that I know I wasn't the only one to think.

Anyone anywhere can hold a gathering as long as they don't call it NEST and have the common decency not to schedule said gathering in conflict/close proximity with any pre-scheduled and similar event. That particular 'brand' is reserved as a courtesy for use by Max and people designated by him, since he's the one who initiated and so named the very first TK convention.

Understood. And that's exactly why I need input from other NESTees...start planning.g well in advance so that all the kinks can be worked out in time. J

I'm sure that the organizers of NEST have received all kinds of feedback in regards to this year's NEST being the last one.

I'm sure some have expressed their disappointment, and others have pointed fingers to figure out who to blame, but I'm much more interested in being part of the solution than the problem.

I have experience running four big tickling gatherings in upstate New York (NYST) while I was married (2000-2003), and I have other event planning and management experience (in the vanilla world) as well -- I've attended and/or hosted a number of conferences and other events at hotels and conference facilities.

I would be very interested in being part of a team that would continue to host future tickle gatherings in Philadelphia.

If you managed to make the biggest event in this kink, and were going to stop hosting it, as it's been known, would you appreciate seeing posts in your area asking for a replacement call?

Most wouldn't.

I don't recall where anything NEST's hosts have stated says ANYTHING about there never being a NEST again. I believe the quote is "understand that this year will be the last one that NEST as it has been known, will happen."

NEST as it has been known.

LeeAllure puts a colossal amount of effort into each and every event. Until she declares what IS going to happen, do please give her the courtesy of not attempting to replace her in this section.

The quicker "last one as it has been known" is explained thoroughly, the quicker replacement talk will stop. If it doesn't need to be replaced that is. I've never gone to a gathering. Just an observation. People are just worried about losing something important to them.

NEST is a gathering of like-minded people, put together by Lee's herculean effort.

One can happily and proudly discuss the creation of one's own gathering without needing to "replace" anybody else's gathering. The more the merrier!

Tickling, after all, is a team sport. 😉

I think it would be best to hold a private (or less-attended) event. I think some of the females were repulsed at the condition some of the males were in in years past. Digging their grubby fingers into any woman they could, bad hygiene, bad breath, unshaven, and one of them even had an excessively runny nose. Slobs like that aren't meant to attend an event like this.

This.

For anyone trying to organize a NEST-like event next year, find out if Lee's hosting it again. Sounds like not, so run the NEST name by her and Max see if they have any issues with someone else picking up the reins and using the name for the event in the future. I'd assume they wouldn't due to the nature of the community as well as the fact that NEST has come to represent something awesome and it would be a tragedy to lose that brand. Just put up a history page owing credit to the respective founders/hosts/people that make things HAPPEN.

Yeah, I don't think anyone is being replaced. That kind of conversation is negative energy. :\ People just want this kindofa big deal of an event to continue - completely understandable, so instead of waiting to see what'll happen, let's figure out what's going on for future years and plan accordingly.

Of course, there's a high chance that this has already all been hashed out and my post is moot.

Cheers all!

Of course one guy will always think its a giant orgy and/or annoy every female with their foot fetish that they are too immature to control...

since he's the one who initiated and so named the very first TK convention.

Slight correction, my good fellow, and with much and all due respect to my bro, Max Speer, but I believe I hosted the first TK gatherings. (Chicago circa 1986)

That would be correct history, TickleChgo. I still have it's documentation somewhere, oddly enough. Max and I started in the same year, back in the '90s.

I coined the term "gatherings", as "play party" intimidated folks in early USENET discussions. Several mentioned the bondage group using that term. Funny how times have changed.
