Just curious to see who else is in the path of this lovely snowstorm. It didn't start here until about 4 this morning. I'ts now 10am and we've got about 7" already. They're predicting our final storm totals to be anywhere between 20 - 30", depending on how it tracks. I know there are plenty of others here that have either already been hit, are being hit now, or are due to get it later on. Anyone care to share how things are going in your neck of the woods?

Hi Ann and Drew, I am enjoying being home in the snow with my family, just glad I got to fly home ahead of this storm!! We have about 12" of snow right now it is lovely and quiet. My husband is outside making his 1st pass with the snow blower of the driveway, if it gets too deep even the snow blower won't get in. Hope all is well and hope to be seeing you real soon!

Well Ann,we've gotten 2 feet or so since yesterday earl moring here in Pennsylvania It's still coming down Supossed to stop tonight They've declared a state emergency They also closed down traffic to either emergency personnel and the road cleaning crews
I'm just glad I'm home and not stuck at some truck stop somewhere Knowing my luck the kitchen would be closed because nobody could get to work I know at least here in Pa if the roads are shutdown and your out and about and get stuck you WILL get fined On the radio they were saying some people tried to make it to the Pa. Turnpike and got stuck on the on ramp They also said the fines could go up to $1000 Not sure if anyone actually gets that big of a fine

luckily we haven't been hit with major amounts of snow here...just incredibly bitter cold temperatures...pipes freezing and all of that but its been a mild winter (hmmm mild winter in buffalo...kinda an oxymoron lol)🙂 anyways hope the snow doesn't get too bad for everybody..have fun...build a snowman...make a snow angel...have a snowball fight

We currently have about 10" out back. It's light and powdery. So, that helps with moving it. But, it also means that the winds blow it back in more easily. Snowmen will have to wait. But, angels are fun too!

Ann

Usually when it gets this cold, I leave my bathroom sink on, flowing just enough to keep my pipes from freezing. Well, being a dumbass, I forgot to the other night. I have no running water anywhere in my house. Not good. The last time my pipes froze, they burst. But on the plus side, I got laid off from work recently (something I can't understand people expressing sympathy for. It's temporary, and I'm collecting unemployment. Money for doing nothing. I'm enjoying this.), so I don't really have anywhere I need to go. I can just sit around at home and wait for the snow to melt. No hurry.🙂

South Jersey got slammed starting about 7 am Saturday morning and it is STILL snowing at this time, Sunday 1245pm EST.
Two feet at least so far, close to 30 inches by the time it ends.
Parts of NJ were/are declared in a state of emergency.
Shoveling this s**t is NOT fun.:sowrong:

We have about 15 inches, and they say the worst of it will be coming through in another 2-3 hours. Looking at 2-3 feet, winds about 40+mph, and we still had about 6 inches on the ground when this started. WAY too much snow for the equipment here. Damn good thing it's a holiday, and most of the schools were closed this week anyway. :sowrong: Q

Hi Q!!........

......how are you? we dont appear to have talked for a while, maybe I have just been on the wrong threads!

well I think we are up to about 15-16" but it looks to be settling down now so maybe the worst is over, I needed this chill out time.

JPie

Yep....about 16" here as well, Judy. Drew got in a little while ago. They were on the roof of one of the stores working on a heating unit of all things! I'm glad to have him home safely. Now we just need to get the lot plowed so we can get out tomorrow. They haven't touched it yet.

Ann

We have over 2 feet here, in Southeast PA. Maybe more, it's hard to tell at this point, because it's blowing and drifting. I have a 5 foot snow drift behind my car! At least the worst is over now. Man, I hate this stuff. All those moving to Florida...the line forms behind me! LOL

A foot and a half of this frozen crap and a 15 minute ride (nornal time) that turned into an hour just to get home and then to have to shovel a space to get INTO for the first time in my life and no sign of stopping and I will have to go in to work tomorrow and...do I sound bitter...?...LOL I hate winters like this....

You know it's bad outside when all of the video stores close at 3 in the afternoon....😉

aaaaawwwwwwwwww I was waiting for a thread like this lol. Actually, I do feel for you guys, I used to live in Minnesota and South Dakota, so I definitely know the feeling. Luckily when I finished college I got smart and moved out here to Arizona, where I am now lounging in the sun:devil: It's a dry heat I tell ya!!!!

Pawz

What is snow?

66 degrees and cloudy here in Southern California. (Hey, Pawzy started it!) 😀

Well.....19" and still snowing like mad. OK, for once in my life, I've had enough snow. They're talking about another 4-8" over night tonight then another inch or 2 in the morning. I'm not sure they know where they're going to put it all. We already have 8-10' walls of snow along the lot. Going to be interesting to see where they put it. lol

well looks to be about 18-19" here now...don't know what the final total will be, I think I have had enough also, although it does look beautiful.

JPie

From Boston:
We had about 6 inches on the ground before this all started add about 20" and a possible backlash tomorrow afternoon into the the night...I hate winter 🙁

Pawz,
That wasn't nice! It's nasty cold in some places right now. I mean I actually had to put on SHOES to go get my phone out of the car! 🙄 😛

I can't even fathom what y'all are going through up there. I've seen it all over the weather reports, and I just send warm fuzzies to any of you up there!

I have a question though....which may seem dumb, but I'm clueless! What is it like when this much snow melts? I know when we have hurricanes here, and there is heavy rain with it, it takes forever for the ground to soak it up. Oversaturation leading to flooding. Does that happen with snow? Or is the melted version much less than the frozen stuff?

Joby

Hey Joby, I was nice, I said I felt for them, lol definitely much kinder in my post here compared to me in the chatroom lol.

Pawz

I also feel for them! I can just IMAGINE what the cold and snow must be like. 😛 Seriously, I hope you guys and gals weather the storm (pun half-intended). 😀

this snow sux !

we got hit here in south jersey starting sun. morning and my area ended up getting 20 inches by the time it ended mon. afternoon. i almost bought a SUV last fall, but i figured, hey, the winters aren't THAT bad so i'll stick with my hot little Mitsu Galant. well, now i'm regretting that decision! 🙄

About 20 inches in Central Park (which is half a block from where I live). Most of the main streets are clear, but many side streets won't be plowed until tomorrow.

I'd rather be in Vero Beach watching the pitchers and catchers work out. And seeing some women in sandals. 😀

I live in northern Missouri (just about dead center of the country) and we were lucky. We only got about 5 inches here.

Of course the wind was blowing so hard throughout the storm that travel was hazzardous. Wouldn't you know I had to drive 200 miles through the blizzard while it was happening. (A routine part of my job.) But it turned out not to be any real big deal.

I stopped to check a few cars in ditches along my route, thank heavens no one was hurt. Some of these yoyo's insist on doing the speed limit no matter what the weather. Oh well, I guess it's just smartening-up the gene pool. 😀

Out here, a traffic jam is when you're the fifth car behind a slow-moving farm tractor on a two lane road. 😉
