When Ross saw the flashing messages on both his cell phone, and home office answering machine, he knew that something must really be wrong.
Yes,. Ross was exhausted from his trip.
Yes. Ross was fed up with dealing with Aunt R and the process of the funeral.
Yet, that morning, Ross thought he had ironed out his differences with Aunt R
Ross had a phone call with Aunt R, took over, called the funeral director, and basically told Aunt R that if she wanted him to take over, he would take over.
Ross finalized the funeral arrangements with the funeral director.
Thus, with the two flashing messages, and Kayley gone, Ross knew that he had to respond.
Ross called the office, and Vic answered.
"Ross, I was not sure if you were home yet or not, or what was going on" Vic said.
Fritz, Steve and I squeezed in shows, I left last night, and got home at 3 am. The funeral is planned Thank God. I finally got Aunt R to understand that she cannot handle it, and that if she wants me to handle it, she has to stop shooting her mouth off, judging me, and let me handle it. So, I think, and I hope, that the funeral is planned. We will pay our respects to my Aunt Karen this Sunday, because there are no Jewish funerals on Saturday due to the Sabbath. Kayley is at work. If I'm needed at the office, RossShell is still my company, so I am the man to call. What is the problem, Vic, and how can I help you?" Ross said.
"Ross, I hate to tell you this.. However, there might be, and likely are, two separate potential problems involving complaints with both Timothy and Charles Harton. John the account manager told Timothy that you are in OKC, and Harton was told the same thing. They wanted to reach you, but the account managers on their accounts told them that you will not be back until Monday. I think it would be wise if you came into the office, and listened to the problems" Vic said.
Ross sighed. "Fine, give me 60 to 90 minutes to settle myself, and get in there. At that point, I will play shrink to Charles, Timothy, the account managers, and all the people I have to" Ross said, clicking the phone off in an annoyed manner, running into the shower, calling an Uber, jumping in it, texting Kayley that he had to go into the office and would explain later. Kayley texted back a frown symbol, and Ross continued his ride into the office.
Ross entered the office. "Okay, people SuperRoss who got home at 3 am, and has to go to his second mother's funeral is here. How can I help whoever needs me?" Ross said, sarcastically, so that he would not look unstable, and erupt.
John cautiously entered Ross's office. "It's okay, John. My business trip, my Aunt Karen passing away, and the fact that I am physically and emotionally exhausted is not your fault. Please tell me your problem" Ross said calmly.
"Ross, Timothy wanted me to place several separate bids on a group of companies. When that happened, some of the companies decided to sell in splits, and the buy either became half of what Tim thought he was boying, which Tim said is not worth it, or, in certain cases, the price went up, and Tim said that was beyond the amount that he had authorized me to spend, and of course blamed me that I was not following his orders, and told me that he was going to tell you this, which made it sound like Timothy was going to get me in trouble with you. I'm sorry , sir, but the whole situation just went off the rails:" John said.
"John , first, dont ever call me sir. I am just Ross, and I have always told you that, and will continue to tell you that. Second, this is typical Timothy, and is not your fault. I will tell you just what I'm going to do. I;m going to tell Timothy that he knew my situation this week between my trip to OKC, Aunt Karen;'s passing and funeral, and that he knew that there would be no way I could deal with something so complex when I went away in the first place to help deal with the passing of my second mother. I will tell him that I got home early, came in to do some simple things, and will not have time, patience or energy to deal with his complex bullshit until I regain my composure from Aunt Karen's passing, my OKC trip, and Aunt Karen's funeral. Tim has to let me put this on hold, and consider my feelings for once, or simply put, fuck whatever deal he wanted me to do that was complex, and fuck Timothy. Not to leave this office of course. I will deal with Timothy. Now what about Charles Harton?
"Harton said he needed to talk to you. I told him that you were out of town, but did not tell him about your aunt, because I know that is personal, and did not know if you wanted me to tell him" John said.
"Okay, that is simple too. I will call Harton. Tell him that I had to rearrange a trip, without saying how, due to a death of someone very close to me. I will tell him that I am home, but I'm in the process of dealing with a very important personal matter, and cannot talk to him or see him until the situation regarding the death, the funeral, and such are past me, If old Charlie does not like it, well then excuse the French, Screw him as well! " Ross said.
"I will leave you now to talk to Harton and Timothy. If you need me, just ask" John said.
"Thanks, John. You are a stand up guy. You, Victor, and maybe some others are getting one week bonus for covering for me this week. I appreciate your assistance more than I can express with money" Ross said.
"Thank You.. Ross" John Said.
John left
Ross closed the door to his office, and dialed Timothy.
Timothy answered.
"Ross, how are you? Where are you?" Tim said, sounding like a concerned friend.
"Gosh, the supposedly concerned best friend. To answer your question, I am home, Timothy. I got home at 3 am in the morning. I am sitting in the office, and just learned from John about your getting yourself into one of your what seems to be your specialty situations. I am too overwhelmed, too tired from my trip, and too overcome between Aunt Karen's passing, my trip,, and her upcoming funeral, to deal with any of this shit. So, I am going to call your party, tell them that I am out of the office due to] bereavement. and the passing of someone in my immediate family. I will tell this person that they will have to wait to speak to me until at least Monday, or maybe Tuesday. Hopefully that will keep them on hold. If not, well, I think you know what my view will be of this deal then" Ross said.
"Of course, Ross. I know that you are emotionally exhausted and overwhelmed with emotion. It is not my intent to put more on your plate. Either tell them you have to postpone it, or this deal will just have to be forgtten about" Tim said.
"Thank You, Tim. Your human consideration is appreciated" Ross said, with a straight tone, but also a hint of sarcasm.
Ross looked down the list of the people on the names of the companies that Tim had on his list, and to these people, to avoid dealing with an emotional phone call that might make Ross sound too off the handle, he composed the same basically form e-mail.
"I am Ross C, the business manager for Timothy Patrick. I received word from both Timothy and my account manager about this situation. I was forced to cut short an important business trip due to a death in my immediate family, and I'm currently out of the office on bereavement for several days. The earliest I can possibly talk to anyone about this would be Monday after my family member's funeral. I hope that this situation will be understood by the person who receives this e-mail. On Monday, I will be fully prepared to listen to, and deal with, all details involving this situation" Ross wrote.
Ross pushed the send button, and within a short time, received several civil emails wishing Ross condolences on his family member's passing, and understanding. The parties involved told Ross that they would certainly communicate with him about all matters the following week.
Ross had gotten by Step One, and put Timothy's business issues on hold.
To ease his emotional balance, Ross also composed an e-mail to Harton.
"Dear Charlies, I received word from John about your situation, I was forced to cut short an important business trip due to an unexpected death in my immediate family. I will be out of the office until Monday, at which point I will contact you, and we will discuss any and all matters regarding this" Ross said.
Ross received a civil e-mail from Charles.
"Dear Ross, I'm very sorry about the death of your family member. Of course I understand that you cannot talk to me now. Please deal with whatever personal matter you need to, and please just contact me when you can" Charles said.
Ross had gotten past that.
Ross went out into the outer office, explained such to John, and then went back into the office.
To make his day, calm, Ross decided to do things such as look at potential deals, and or sites for oil and gas fields, building sites, and such, for him, Fritz, and Steve to talk about.
Ross felt like a heel. Ross had just gotten back from OKC, had put RossShell deals on hold because he was overwhelmed by RossShell clients, and their business, and wanted to delay such until he was past Aunt Karen's funeral. Now that he was working, Ross was looking at more deals for Fritz, Steve, himself, and RFS.
Clearly, RFS , Fritz, and Steve were his "escape" from the complex everyday world of RossShell, even though Ross himself had created RossShell. RossShell was less complex than it used to be due to Ross's major office and huge staff, but Ross often still could not deal with the complexities of it.
By 3 pm,. Ross knew that by the time he got home, Kayley would be there. Thus, he decided to punch out for the day.
CEO lax out. Will return on Monday with hopefully a clear head, after paying my last respects to my Aunt Karen on Sunday" Ross said.
"Take care. Ross" Vic said.
When Ross got out of his Uber, it was nearly 4. Kayley was just about to take off her shoes.
"Student Ross will let Teacher Dom kick off her heels after a long day, and will ask for no foot favors. Student knows that teacher is very tired, and the last thing that Student wants is to tick teacher off" Ross said.
Kayley kissed Ross, her shoes still on. "You can smell my feet, so long as you dont tickle. I'm too tired to do anything sexual, if you get hard, wait for it to go down, or um.. relieve it yourself" Kayley said, giving Ross her bare feet.
Ross sat down, took Kayley's feet in his lap, and whiffed. His pecker got half hard, but he was also at his wits end between Aunt Karen, and the business problems that he had to delay.
"Should I ask what went on in the playground today, or do you not want to talk about that?" Kayley said.
"Nothing much. Harton was looking for me. I emailed him, told him that I had to cut a business trip short due to a death of a close family member, and would not be available to talk until Monday. Oh, and Timothy called me knowing exactly what was going on, told me of multitude problems. I basically told Timothy that I was going to delay it, or else fuck whatever he wanted me to do, between having just been in OKC, and with Aunt Karen's upcoming funeral. Luckily, I e-mailed the other parties concerned, and told them that I had to cut an important business trip short due to a death of an immediate family member, and offered to deal with it all on Monday, and everyone agreed" Ross said.
Kayley smiled. "Ross solved business problem calmly and simply without making it worse. I'm happy for you. I think that we should just chill in the next 36 hours until we pay our respects to Aunt Karen. Sex is optional, depending on mood of the mourning man" Kayley said.
"Oh, we can have sex. Aunt Karen would want me to go on with my life. Tonight, and tomorrow, we focus on us. Sunday, we focus on Aunt Karen and her funeral" Ross said.
An unexpected potential disasterous day had been averted due to Ross's approach to delay business for the good of his emotional and physical health, due to a truly sad situation as a result of his Aunt Karen's passing.
Now, after a hopefully quiet 36 hours for Ross and Kayley, Aunt Karen's funeral would be upon Ross.
What would the funeral bring for Ross, Kayley, Ross's Aunt R, and the other friend who would be attending Aunt Karen's funeral?
What would happen beyond Aunt Karen's funeral, with the business that Ross had left on hold?
All of that would be seen.
Yes,. Ross was exhausted from his trip.
Yes. Ross was fed up with dealing with Aunt R and the process of the funeral.
