Hey guys, the Zombie apocalypse movie featuring Brad Pitt is out today, who's seeing it? I haven't read the book, but I look forward to this one. Heard a lot of good things about it.

I look around these days and all I see is dead-eyed people stumbling and shambling around, staring slack-jawed into their phones, mumbling, and desperately in need of brains... so why do I need to pay to see a zombie apocalypse?

lol good point. Still looks entertaining to me, I think it's worth a look, seeing it tonight.

Somewhat nervous. The book was the account of a journalist interviewing various survivors after the War had ended, and writing down their stories. The movies just seems to be Brad Pitt running from fast-zombies. It could be good, just wish it had stuck a little bit closer to the book.

What's the big attraction to zombies, anyway? Vampires, I can understand. They at least have some cunning and intelligence.

Good question. If I had to guess, I would say that in most cases, zombies are like like a force of nature. They are like a typhoon or earthquake. Vampires, humans, werewolves, they can all be reasoned with. Zombies are like a slow moving tidal wave.

Anti-democracy... 😛

Zombie movies are about democracy 😛

Vampires - that is about, conservativism...

I read the book. I really found bit boring and plodding. I. Excited to know that the only thing similar to the book from the movie,is the title. That is a direct quote from Max Brooks the author. If the movie were like the book I wouldn't go see it.

The movie was actually pretty damn good, and it had a pretty good ending - the ending was actually like the other zombie movies - closed hallways, etc.

Brad Pitt's family sucked, they were whiny and the movie got exponentially better when he finally separated from them.

The movie takes very basic concepts from the book and expanded on them in an action sense. Which made sense, because the book
is a series of interviews, which would have been great as a movie - if you were a movie critic.

So the movie would have sold 142 tickets and had been an utter complete total bomb that would have gotten 4 star reviews ....and made about $900.

But it's worth going see...this summer has been somewhat crappy for movies, and I think I enjoyed it because of that.
I've been enjoying the smaller movies more than the blockbusters......

Solid movie, definitely check it out. Almost seems like their could be a sequel for it the way it ended.

I'm not terribly interested. I feel that the zombie idea has been sucked dry with the swarms of movies and video games in the last decade.

The book was written by Max Brooks, son of Mel Brooks. It's written in the style of "The Good War", a in which a journalist records accounts of WW2 veterans. The book is great (if you like zombie fiction) but I'm iffy on the movie. I don't see how they could make a movie out of a book written in that format, at least not a "good" movie. Also, Max Brooks wrote "The Zombie Survival Guide", if anyone is interested.

Its good. Pretty intense. My purist friends who have read the book say that the content is so different that you cant really compare the two. But I enjoyed it.
