WOW!!!! who would have thought that you would see Eric Bishoff on Raw? then again, who would have thought WCW would fold?

anyway, i like the idea. i like it a LOT!!! why? if Eric is allowed to help with storylines, we will see some interesting stories. when Eric was running Nitro in his first stint, WCW was great to watch. with the NWO and stuff, i watched BOTH WWF and WCW. the only thing is that they couldnt go on with new stories in WCW and that's what hurt them, while McMahon was chugging along. with Bischoff, and McMahon, this will be very interesting. cant wait to see what happens....

any opinions???

Vince has to get a certain satisfaction that all the people that bolted from him are working for him agian. Does this mean that Vince Russo is the Gm of smackdown?

Since Smackdown was just taped tonight, you can find out who the GM is by checking the appropriate sites. I'll say no more to avoid spoiling those who want to remain spoiler-free.

As for Bischoff: it was a surprise to see him all right, but that speech he gave was death. It was the same stuff Shawn Michaels has been giving us since he came back: endless blathering about how cool he USED to be, six or seven years ago. And it killed the crowd dead. Not a good sign.

Bischoff's said (on wwe.com and elsewhere) that he's just there as an on-air talent, and he'll only give his opinions on the booking if someone asks for them -- he's not part of the writing staff. I'll be the first to say the writing needs improvement, but I'm not sure Bischoff is the best person to give it.

Bischoff is on screen talent? ROTFLMFFFAO!!!!! That man has less talent than a cardboard cut-out of my arse!

Ah, yes! "The Silver Fox" returns! (Merril Lynch? Double my Grecian Formula stock!) He seems to be living large! (Merril Lynch? Double my Ben and Jerry's stock) I admit, old EB seemed a bit out of practice, but I'm sure as he settles into his role, the inevitable foiling with Vince should be most entertaining!

Uh...

Bishoff didn't write the storylines in the WCW/NWA/NWO. Hulk Hogan did. Hogans contract with Ted Turner gave him full storyline creativity and approval in the WCW. They couldn't tell you that of course so they could keep the illusion alive that anyone gives a shit about Pro Wrestling. Before Hogan, Ric Flair was their head story writer. Prior to ric it was Dusty Rhodes.

I usually don't have strong opinions re: the wrestling shows, but for some reason, this guy presses my buttons...

Bischoff is TERRIBLE!!!!!

Even back when WCW was great (IMO it peaked in 1998 with the Goldberg "streak"), Bischoff was a weak link. I never enjoyed him at all, not even on a "you love to hate him" level... he just made me want to change the channel!

If they've got him on WWE now, WWE must really be scraping the bottom of the talent barrel.

Bischoff, was he the short dude that hung out with Hogan a long time ago???? sorry haven't watched wrestling in a very long time...when i watched Andre the Giant was still alive

One thing I'm really psyched about Bishoff being in the WWE, we'll finally get to see that Vince/Eric match eventually down the road

Timing?

I'm not sure what the timing of all of this has been. However, for some time before the announcement, the quality of story lines, etc. was decreasing. The fact that most of the crew had no idea that Eric was being brought aboard makes me wonder if it's an indirect kick in the tail from Vince to get people to pick up the pace to SHOW everyone how much better they are than what Eric did with WCW...no matter who did the writing. Just a hunch. We'll see what happens down the road.

Ann

BTW...I can't stand Bishoff either!

Bischoff was the least talented creative person among a truckload of untalented creative people. The only thing that kept WCW alive for so long was Ted Turner refusing to admit deafeat to Vince McMahon. You gotta hate his heel chracter, but Vinnie Mac is the baddest SOB in the WWF. (I will NEVER call it WWE!!!!!!😡 😡 😡 ) As Road Dog once said, "he's a billionaire and doesn't have to take chair shots in the head every week, but he does it because he loves it."

That's why WCW was exterminated. Vince is a creative genius (even if he is a ruthless arsehole of a businessman) and he took two guys 30 years past their prime and turned them into stars again; (Patterson and Brisco) wheras the likes of Bischoff could'nt do a thing with Bret Hart who'd been a star for a decade and a half.

So ........THAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE!!!!!!!!! CAUSE THE VIN-MAN SAID SO!😀

That is so true, Big Jim. WCW and Bishoff couldn't do anything with Bret Hart, in fact, Vince himself has said it. Bret Hart has even said it!
His words: "It's really sad what the WWF did to me, but it was even worse what WCW didn't do for me".
Although I do think what Bishoff does with his heel character is excellent. Untalented? Maybe. But he knows how to get heat with an audience.

Drew

i am kind of 50/50 with Bischoff. remember, he did force Vince to change how he does business. his problem was that after this successful NWO story, he had nothing else. he created nothing new. but he does play a great heel. it should be interesting...

as for Bret Hart. i laugh at him. why? he has got to be the most bitter person alive. true, Vince screwed him, but why did he have to go to WCW anyway? he did absolutely nothing once he got over there. now all he does is say bad things about the industry. hey Bret, if you just stayed WWF instead of going after the money, then maybe you wouldnt have been screwed by Vince. there was no way in hell Vince ws going to take the chance of Bret Hart leaving the WWF as champion and perhaps trashing the title belt on Nitro, like Alundra Blaze did with the WWF Women's title.

all in all, looks like the storylines are picking up in the WWF (E, whatever!!!!)

I have to partially agree with that myself. I never thought Bret should left in the first place. He must have heard the rumours about what a shithole WCW was creativley. If $20 million over four years wasn't enough for him, then I've not got much sympathy.

I feel sorry for Bret myself. He's been through a lot -- the Montreal Screwjob, Owen dying, Goldberg ending his career with a sloppy superkick, and now the stroke. It's hard to imagine a worse five years than that.

As for Bischoff in WWE, I admit I enjoyed him last Monday. He seemed to have fun playing a complete asshole, and unlike Vince doesn't seem to mind looking like a jerk, which makes it more fun. We'll see if he continues to be entertaining tonight.

But they've been running "evil owner" angles on and off since Austin vs. McMahon started back in 1998. Does the idea really have any gas left in it at this point?

Good point Shem. Maybe they can turn it around and have Vince go face. Since there's a history with Bishoff and several of the crew (including Shane) have already expressed reservations about Eric's not being trustworthy, we may even see HIM as the evil character and Shane or someone else go after him to save the company from destruction. Though I don't like Eric, I WOULD like to see him get his tail kicked!

Ann

I agree too, Shem, while Paul Heyman is just annoying as a heel, Bishoff is someone you just enjoy hating. And I like the fact that he's getting a lot of t.v. time. Can't wait to see Eric interact with Austin when he returns.(which is more than likely, Vince probably gave him the summer off and they used a "walked off the show" angle).

Drew

actually, that's an interesting scenario regarding Austin. perhaps he did get the summer off. but i do doubt it. why? he's walked off TWICE. once after Wrestlemania and the most recent one. personally i think Austin is going through some personal issues that we are unaware of. remember, just a few days after he walked out, his wife Debra called the police to report domestic violence. this wasnt reported on WWE, it was reported by a real news station and real police. then it was mentioned on WWE. leads me to believe that it is real. what would be the point of him being accused of domestic violence? that would never fly, even in the WWE. Austin may come back, but not right now....

as for the "evil" owner idea, it has been going on for a LONG time. funny thing is, Vince wasnt the one who came up with it. it was Eric Bischoff in WCW. remember when he joined the NWO and was causing havoc for the "good guys"? Vince then took that idea and created his style with it, which of course was better. Vince makes a great bad guy, which is why he never stays "face" for long. Stephanie is the same. only Shane usually ends up being the "face". he can be heel too, but usually ends up being the "good guy". Bischoff is that other guy who can play heel so well. life should be interesting now.

hey here's another thought. didnt it shock the hell out of you when Triple H turned on Shawn Michaels? i didnt see that coming at all. is Triple H now going to be a heel? he makes a great one, but i was getting used to him being a face again. LOVE his entrance music and his entrance period!

Triple H does make a better heel than face. I was glad he turned on Shawn Micheals and didn't reform DX just so we wouldn't be subjected to his dumb "Are You Ready/Suck It" bit every week.
But what do I know anyway? Don't even live near Stamford.

Hey Shem, I didn't know Bret's career was finished. What happened with that superkick? On top of that I didn't even know he had a stroke. (What can I say, am I up to date on things or what? LOL)

i remember Bret getting a concussion and that is why his career ended. it happened the in the fall of 2000. after wrestling, Bret went out and bashed the industry. that is one bitter guy.

as for his stroke, it happened recently when he was involved in a motorcycle accident. i think he wasnt wearing a helmet and his brain was "jarred" quite a bit. i didnt follow it too well, so i will lack in the information department.

i was thinking about something else. who do you fans think was the best tag team ever? my nominees are the Road Warriors, Demolition, The Steiners, British Bulldogs, the Hart Foundation, hell, even the New Age Outlaws. also the Dudley's. any others?

I think

Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart were the greatest tag team of all time. 2nd would ocme the Outsiders. 😎

Shawn Michaels and the Hitman were tag partners? I never remember that! Mind you I don't remember much do I? I'd be amazed to learn those two were ever a tag team. They hated each others guts in real life never mind in the scripts of the WWF.

Hard to say who's the best wrestling tag team of all time, but definetly the most entertaining ones have to be either Edge and Christian or Booker T. and Golddust.
