X-Men 2 question

OK, this has been buggin' me. In the movie X-Men II, how did Magneto know that the guard had extra iron in his blood? He and Mistyque had apparently not been in communication with each other, unless this was something that they had planned all along if Magneto were ever captured. But the movie doesn't tell ya THAT.

So how did he know?

Glad to answer this for ya bub. Being a comic nerd myself I'll tell you that magneto is the master of magnatism. He can feel magnetic fields at all times. When the guard came into his cell he immediatly felt the iron in the man's body from his magnetic fields. In fact he can feel iron in other human bodies at all times, it's just there's never enough to do any damage. so, as magneto even states in that particular scene "there's something different about you, too much iron in your system?" simply because he sensed the unusually high iron level in him. Now I see I'm beginning to repeat myself so I'll end it now but I hope I answered your question.

Actually, when Mystique seduced the guard into the bathroom, she drugged his drink to knock him out. Then, she injected him with that syringe, but it couldn't have been to knock him out further, he was already knocked out. It obviously was an injection of extra iron, so that Magneto had a lot to work from. Otherwise, Magneto would just do that to all the humans on Earth, and he would have won long ago. There had to be a LOT of iron in his system to kill him when it got pulled out.

I've always wanted a job explaining movies, but I don't think that position exists anywhere....

But boy, what did you guys think of Brian Cox as Stryker? He's one of my favorite actors, and it would be kind of cool if he returned, because as everyone who reads comic books knows, no one EVER really dies in the comics....

Thanks to all. I knew Magneto knew the guy had extra iron in him due to the injection (man, that was a great scene!). I was always wondering - "How did he know what Mistique was planning?" I guess it makes sense then, that he could sense the extra super dose of iron in the guy's system, like a 'disturbance in the force' or Xavier's telepathy getting into someone's mind, translated in a way relating to Magneto's own talent/style/gift...... Dolphins gots sonar, bats gots radar, 'neto gots metal detection.

Brian Cox = Stryker = cool! Well done. A well acted part, and such a great bad guy for mutants. He's been getting a lot of work lately. But yeah, more Colossus would be cool, but I really wish he was Russian. Of course, I wish Storm was African, not So. Californian.....

I think if you want to explain films, best thing to dowould simply write a book of film criticism, and shop it around to publishers using Thw Writer's Guide. Or at least submit some articles to Film Quarterly you won't make a living doing it, but it would be nicely supplemental. To do it just for funsies, a web site would work, kind of like the "Ain't it Cool" site.

But if anyone could explain what the frack was going on in The Ring (another Cox film) or Jeepers Creepers, it would be much appreciated.

In JC, the monster only gets to come out for 23 days every 23 years. He feeds on certain people. The psychic lady at the police station told the kids that were his targets that he can smell something in the victims that he chooses, I think she said that the monster could smell their fear and when he liked the smell he would hunt that particular person, I guess he liked the way the guy smelled. Also, I wonder if he's sill after eyes or he's collecting another body part in the second movie


JC1 sucked, JC2 looks to be EONS better

Well Mabus, Brian Cox did a good job as Stryker, and he made a suitable villan for this film. However I think I'd move on to a major villan for the next movie. Somebody like Apocalypse or Mr. Sinister or Juggernaut, something super human at very least.

And Oddjob, I could write a book on how bad a movie the ring was. It had more plot holes than swiss cheese. I mean they don't even explain where the tape even comes from. Stupid! But I'm gonna stop now before I really lose it. 🙂

You know the tape in the movie the ring? The one that once you watch you supposedly have 7 days to live. Where did that tape come from? They explained the pictures on the tape but they never explained where the actual tape itself came from or who filmed it. Point is it was a stupid movie.

Anyway, they were right up there. Mystique injected iron into dude, Magneto sensed it, blah blah blah the end ^^x

Jeepers Creepers was so lame. A really creepy looking guy in a creepy yet cool truck who lives in a farm house ends up being some mysterious gargoyle that can fly - with a vanity lisense plate? And nobody noticed that like, 30, 40 poeople have dissapeared in his neack of the woods (but there are Area 51 devotees that can reiterate every freaky occorance there)??? Some movies make me mad for wasting my time and $$. This was one of them. But I swear that I read somewhere (I NEVER can remember) that the creeper had something to do with a college medical experiment. It's nowhere in the film, but I read that in some long forgotten place.

I thought The Ring was great visually, but yeah, there were holes.... How did the freak girl even come into existance? Why'd her parent's hide her in the barn, why not just kill her? Why did Brian Cox kill himself, after all the years of knowing the tape was out there and someone was gonna find it? Why didn't they just destroy the tape? Or cement it into a wall where it would never be found, not even accidently? Did the tape come from that experimental lab? Why was that spirit girl killing people? Why did the woman not die from watching the original, and not her kid, but the guy did - yeah, I know, it had something to do with a copy, but still, all three saw the original(I thought)and only the one guy dies. What's up with that? And why was Catwoman fighting Batman? The Pengiun I could see, but Catwoman?

The Japanese version of The Ring was much more clear and made much more sense, as far as anything supernatural can.
