You can tell when a blue moon is around the corner, Agency Publishing gets ready to produce its newest comic

I've been working a lot trying to push several comics through production. A lot of familiar faces are in production, as well as some new work. This is one of the new ones.

This project has been kept absolutely secret until now. I don't know why, I just really liked a lot of the potential it had, and didn't want to say much until it was all done.

This comic is called Yelena and it follows the adventures of a bi-sexual, tickle fetishist witch living in the modern day. I don't really know what the inspiration for this was. I guess I just don't see eastern European women offered as a focus for much of anything, and thought it would be cool if I had a protogonoist with strong eastern European and Russian roots.

The premise for the story is that Yelena's family made a pact with the Devil to gain some of his power in the form of witchcraft. Even though they could live supernaturally prolonged lives, the Devil sought underhanded means (would you expect any less than the prince of lies?) of nullifying the contract by killing everyone in the family. He employed Witch Hunters to hunt down all the Yelena's family line. She is the last of that lineage, and has lived in exile her entire life to avoid their probing eyes.

Yelena uses witchcraft, and has mastered the art to the point at which she has achieved immortality. She is over 600 years old, and has taken up residence in a modern day urban environment, with the hopes of blending in to the surroundings, avoiding the Witch Hunters, and enjoy a normal life.

These stories will chronicle different adventures with Yelena. Although I had intended to keep everything in the modern day, I could see the exploration of her formers lives as good story time fodder.

This is the first time I've ever worked with this particular artist. I was so impressed by his initial representation of Yelena I immediately penned what is now issue #1 in just a couple hours. It was a very primal, very inspired exercise, and I kind of liked how it turned out.

Yelena is having a secret affair with a world famous supermodel, and this first issue deals with their relationship a bit.

Here's a couple early sketches of the two main characters. This is Yelena and Gretchen, in artistic embryronic state.

This first one is the sketch that really inspired me to draft an entire script in just an afternoon. This is Yelena. There's just this style the artist gave her that I adore. This was perfect in a lot of ways, and I remember thinking "who the hell needs inks or colors in a comic, this would be perfect!" But that side didn't win out, so the entire book is colored 🙂

This second sketch is Gretchen. Not terrible, but it didn't capture my imagination like the first Yelena sketch did. Still, the artist did a great job capturing the feel of these characters, and the sensuality between the two of themn.

Here's a colored panel of Yelena and Gretchen getting some nice alone time together. Does Gretchen love tickling? Not exactly, but let's just say Yelena is very infectious with that side of her personality 🙂

You can see in this panel, like the one above, we took a direction with the narration that we've not really tried before. A lot of the captioning is through the eyes of Yelena, as if she's telling the story. The text story that preludes this comic is drafted in the same manner, from Yelena's eyes. I rather enjoyed that approach, and will probably continue it with future stories.

I love Yelena's dress designed by the artist. You'll notice in a couple places in the story he apparently loves upskirt shots. Nothing wrong with that, but there's some nice renderings of Yelena as she's partially bent over here and there. Fun to throw in traditional T&A with more specialized looks at tickling.

This piece is interesting, because it does show some various aspects of a page before it becomes final. On a few of the panels, the artist and I had a hard time deciding which version should go into the next stage for inks/colors. This particular scene (without giving too much away) shows Gretchen being tickled, while there's some "other things going on." So when you sexualize a scene, it's always a challenge to know how much laughter should be displayed on a page versus more orgasmic moments. By the way, the female orgasm is a difficult thing to depict in a beautiful way. Odd thing, that.

But as you can see, depending on the sketch, some of the scenes are more full of mirth, some are more drawn to esctacy.

Anyway, this comic represents a lot of firsts for me personally, so I hope the end product is something you all enjoy.

I don't know when we're releasing this particular issue. All I can say is very, very soon. No more waiting for months stuff. There's a couple things I need to look into, then it's good to go.

I love the artwork on this one. The girls are expressive and the story is fantastic. Creative and with just enough suspension of disbelief to really make it work. There are some unbelievable things coming from Agency Publishing in the near future, and Yelena sets the bar pretty high. 😉

Regardless of how you've been able to do it, I'm sincerely glad you've been up to the task this last decade. You're truly a shining light for the rest of us on how to treat customers and the people you work with.

It's nice to have a finished product that I was truly happy with. It's been awhile since I could claim that. Sometimes the artwork just doesn't materialize like you envisioned in your head. So I hope that positive vibe carries over to our customers as well.

Heh, it's all good. I sent Dave2112 and Bandito a sneak peak of the book yesterday because we've worked together before on projects in either informal or formal capacities, trading feedback and such. So I'm glad you like it.

Thanks HDS. I was very pleased with the artist's natural ability to depict the female form and also display the level of intimacy I wanted to convey between Yelena and Gretchen. I can't count how many times I've written something in the script that I thought would be really hot, but somehow between the written word, and the final product, something just falls flat. But I feel pretty good about this one. Hope you enjoy the show 🙂

Here's page one of the interiors, so you can get a feel for what the sequential artwork is all about. This is smaller than the page sizes you get when you buy the book, trying to make this as forum friendly as possible.

Anyway, the comic story just takes right off from where the short prelude ends. The issue will be available for sale pretty soon. I just need to draft up the issue page and then we're good to go.

Thanks so much for running this project past me this week. I think it's amazing. I mean - the comic is sensational! I'll write up some specific
feedback bellow:

* The art is really impressive. I love the style of this latest artist.
Very tight, very professional, and very very easy on the eyes.

* The narrative style is absolutely wonderful to read. I particularly like
it in the first few pages to quickly add depth and interest to brand new
characters. Especially Yelena.

* The sexiness of the comic in general is great! I love the underskirt
shots, and the general physical appeal of the main characters. It is not
gratuitous but works so very very nicely with the concept.

* The tickle action is hotness. Simple, straightforward, and better
because of it.

* The expressions work very well. They never look odd or weird. Very
nice. And yeah - I have been trying to add some female orgasm expressions
in some of my recent work, and it is a challenge to say the least - but this
artist did very well with it. The gals are beautiful.

* The progression and pacing/paneling works very well. Again it is very
simple, and not that dazzling or awe inspiring, but I think that works very well with the comic.

* And this is purely a personal opinion, but I think the erotic aspect of
the comic perfectly walked the fine line of mutual consent, and erotic
tickles, yet still kept conflict. The way you did it with resistance, love, and conflict worked very well. And I really enjoyed it.

I guess what I am trying to say is that you hit a good middle ground in this
comic. Some nudity - that was totally HAWT - but never too much. Some
eroticism - but never cheesy, or "porn like". And you gave the whole things
an edge that kept it so sexy.

This is the same sort of balance I attempt to achieve with my work. I
compliment you, my friend.

To anyone thinking of getting this comic: You should. It is an amazing, fun, incredible, sexy tickle comic. Get it as soon as it comes out.

Not trying to shortcut my response by editing the heck out of your's... But I did find this item of specific interest.

It actually is tougher than hell to get a good orgasm represented in a still frame that isn't pornographic or ridiculous in its representation. It's going to be a recurring theme in this series, so hopefully the artist doesn't get tired of drawing panel after panel of orgasming and laughing women (actually he said he had fun with the first issue, so that's a good sign). It makes me much more appreciative of other artists when they capture it right.
